against ULM. There is no way pricing out 90% of the families wanting to attend a game is in long term interest of the University.

BTW, there are plenty of rooms available. I can book 10 right now. So, it’s only about 60% occupied. Maybe less.

Somethings not right. I put in the exact same info (1 night 1 guest) and it says no rooms available. The guy I share an office with put it in and it says $549 per night. These were both on the Hampton Inn website.

Hilton Honors website says "Sold Out" for Starkville. West Point shows $345/nt and Columbus shows $285/nt

If you are headed south after the game, book a room in Louisville. The most I've paid was $109 for one night in the hotel next to the Mexican restaurant on the right.

For the record, it’s all in like $1,300 for 2 nights (check in Friday and leave Sunday) depending on your selections.

Friday alone is around $500

don’t worry, The gas stations down there gouged us on the gas prices on our way to the game back during Katrina and later on every single one of them went to jail for it. We didn’t see any reimbursements though.

Crap hotel, this kind of gouging should be illegal. Should be a cap on holiday or event season. I’ve stayed at other college venues and it is normal to hike prices but 250-350 is usually what you see , not 839 dollars.

We’re coming up for the ULM game. Ended up in Columbus at the La Quinta… the one next to walk on’s is absurd compared to what we paid for the Auburn series game 1. Why in the hell is it so high for a ****** game? 10 or more so years ago, this game altogether would’ve been no more than $120. I mean hello, this isn’t a big sec game.

I know many will disagree, but I find that pricing to be flat out gouging of your lifeblood (alumni and fans) and I think it’s reprehensible.

Charge something well above a normal weekend rate, let the hotel fill up and move on.

I was at a conference recently and had dinner at a table with an OM woman. She said people are renting their homes out for serious money during that week/weekend. They have season tickets and she told her husband they could rent the house out, sell the tickets as part of the package, and make a huge profit. He refused.

It was a conversation that hit a lot of the OM stereotypes -- all about how expensive everything has gotten since the football team was so competitive, and how expensive and inconvenient the playoff game was, and what the tickets cost then and now, and how much they had to pay for parking, etc. etc. etc. I think the woman is excellent at what she does, but that night she certainly checked all the boxes without realizing it.

Just confirms to me that MSU should go ahead and fully chairback every seat in the Davis Wade house.....student section too. Drop the stadium capacity down to 40K and cancel the SEZ expansion plans. The Liberty Bowl has gone from about 60K down to now 45K with their renovation and they didn't even chairback the whole stadium. If hotels are gonna cost upwards toward a 1000 bucks, won't need many seats anyway.

I would say there is a difference in gouging due to a natural disaster etc and this situation in that is not life or death.

Much like the person who complains about the last minute walk up fare on a flight being 4 times as much, one must realize they may not have had a seat at all (or room in this case) if the ticket price were $250 instead of $1000. If demand dries up on the last room or seat at that price, then it will adjust downward.
