My buddy was president of the LC during a bit of the Franklin tenure . His take was that James wasn’t warm and fuzzy towards the Lettermen.

President of DFW Alumni group said interaction with staff is night and day. We have a raffle every TV watching party and big prize was always a JVP signed football (I have 2). Once BGJ took over, each year was more and more difficult until finally impossible. Now, not only are we getting footballs from CMC, we also have other giveaways, as well as a very positive open line of communication. Shocked, not shocked.

I’m really loving everything I’m hearing from and about CMC thus far. Having SuePa speak to the team about “Legacy” is another great example.

I very earnestly hope that he, the staff, and the team have a strong enough first season kicking off this new era to really lock in the support of the fan base and set the stage for some truly special years ahead. Fingers crossed.

Many lettermen being interviewed in the media have talked openly about how happy they are now being welcomed back. Careful not to openly bash BGJ, saying only that Campbell has embraced the history of PSU and welcomed them all back with open arms. The media has talked about how different the players are under this new staff. Allowed to talk to the media, the media has much more access to practices and how this cloud has been lifted off the program. It's a breath of fresh air for everyone and probably BGJ. He needed a fresh start someplace else.

Franklin did a lot of good to great things at PSU. Won a lot of games. Recruited a lot of talent. Squandered a lot of talent. Recruited top assistants, and squandered them as well. He did a great job (it seems) with community engagement and promoting PSU. But, he was a massive distraction - his constant haggling over contracts (including last year) sunk team enthusiasm. He didn't seem overly eager to embrace PSU's history/traditions (save the ONE remark he made when hired). Campbell has invited SUE PATERNO to speak at a team meeting in less than a year in office. He's invited letterman to campus who haven't been in ages. We won the offseason coaching carosel and it's not close. Big upgrade. VT is just getting a taste of what's to come with alignment and funding.

Some posters have mentioned that the Lettermen have expressed how much more welcome they feel under HCMC than they did under Franklin. If true, very good news.
I had no idea Matt was a huge fan of early 1960s pop music groups 😂

BGJ was like a CEO everyone despised and/or had no confidence in; and when he finally got canned people were excited for the change in leadership. The program had become stale under BGJ and the hiring of Campbell brought fresh energy into the program.

The lettermen had to be embarrassed at how putrid we played in the biggest games especially OSU. I bet a lot of their responses behind closed doors about the canning of BGJ was..."Finally!"

I like everything I'm hearing as well. I also have no ill will toward Franklin and think he did a damn good job while he was here.
