GOLDSBORO COUGARS 0-2 @ SOUTHERN WAYNE SAINTS 1-1
Goldsboro has yet to score a point this season, and has really looked terrible. I hate to speak this way about a team, because I know that it takes a lot for those kids to continue to show up for practice each day. I hope that they can get the right people in place to turn this program back to being respected. The Saints comes in to this game after they struggled with 2A Union last week, but pulled out a 26-14 victory. I expect the Saints to be clicking on both sides of the ball this week, and keep the Cougars scoreless on the season. G 0 SW 38
ROSEWOOD EAGLES 0-2 @ NORTH JOHNSTON PANTHERS 1-1
Rosewood let me down last week, I picked them to pull off the upset on the road against North Duplin. The Eagles fought hard but failed short by one point. The Eagles defense has been playing good thus far on the season, but is getting little to no help from their offense. They'll take on a Panthers team that got handled last week against Edenton Holmes 45-6. Look for the Panthers to forget about last week and focus on the Eagles. I think the Eagles defense will once again show up and keep the score respectable, but that won't be enough on the road. R 7 NJ 22
(19)PRINCETON BULLDOGS 1-1 @ SEAFORTH HAWKS 1-1
The Bulldogs and the Hawks are coming off of losses last week, the Bulldogs ran out of gas in the second half against 4A East Duplin, while the Hawks got grounded by Southeast Alamance 48-21. The run verses the pass, the Bulldogs loves to keep the ball on the ground, and the Hawks live in the air. I think this will be a back and forth affair with the Bulldogs coming out with the victory. (22)CLINTON DARK HORSES 1-1 @ (15)WALLACE ROSE HILL BULLDOGS 1-1
Dark Horses invade Bulldogs territory for another battle between these two rivals. The Horses couldn't keep up with Midway last week, and the Bulldogs had to hold off Kinston in the second half. The Bulldogs had a better showing on offense in the first half, but only could score one touchdown the rest of the way. The Dark Horses
are still up and down thus far on the season. Seems like they can't get both the offense and defense going at the same time. This one could be another classic battle if the Horses can get going, but I think the Bulldogs are a step or two ahead of them at this point. C 10 WRH 27
(4)MIDWAY RAIDERS 2-0 @ (20)LAKEWOOD LEOPARDS 1-1
The Leopards have a hard task ahead of them when the air raid, and ground attack of the Raiders roll into town. The Leopards defense shutout Lejeune last week 23-0, while Midway took care of business against Clinton. The Raiders are improving on defense from game to game, and the Leopards
identity is still unknown, because it's hard to tell from their outing against Lejeune. This is a county rivalry, and both teams will be up for the challenge. I look for the Leopards to come out swinging, but in the end the Raiders will have too many weapons on offense. M 35 L 20

(22)SOUTHERN NASH FIREBIRDS 1-1 @ (5)JAMES KENAN TIGERS 1-0
The Firebirds lost a hand full of guys that was set to return for them this season, and it showed in their 56-13 home lost to the 6th ranked team in 7A, Clayton. The Firebirds
β are 1-4 passing through two games on the season. They're going to keep the ball on the ground, and run it down your throat. My Tigers are coming off of an bye week and should be ready to play. I was impressed by our defense against Southern Wayne two weeks ago. In the meeting between these two teams last season, my Tigers dominated for most of the game, but we ran out of gas, and watched the Firebirds β score 32 4th quarter points and fly away with a two point win 44-42. This time my Tigers will need to keep guys fresh and ready for the 4th quarter. This time both teams know what to expect from each other, and it'll come down to who's defense will force their will on the game. Turnovers was a problem for the Firebirds β last week, so hopefully my Tigers can force a couple of turnovers and give our offense a few more possessions. Both teams are fairly young, and we'll see who grows up quickly as the game goes on. Look for my Tigers to start fast and dominate on both sides of the ball. SN 7 JK 28

The question that's being asked is, is the Aces back! The Edenton Holmes of old is what they are referring to, and we don't know, but I believe we will find out this week when the Eagles get to Edenton. The Eagles are coming off a loss to 7A D.H Conley 29-22. Where the Eagles offense had it's moments putting up over 400 yards, but had 4 turnovers. While the Aces defense has been flying all over the field, only giving up 6 points in two games. This will be the test that the Aces need to see exactly where they're at, and who they are. I think that the Eagles will get back on track and pull away from the Aces. N 42 EH 14
(6)WILSON PREP ACADEMY TIGERS 0-2 @ (8)GREENE CENTRAL RAMS 2-0
The defending 1A state champs come rolling in to Snow Hill looking for their first win of the season. And they'll have to do it against a very confident Rams team that will be up for the challenge. The Rams
know not to look at the Tigers record and think that this is going to be a cake walk for them. They know that the Tigers two losses has come against tougher competition than what they have faced. The Tigers lost to 7A power Clayton 46-6 in their opener, and lost to 5A heavyweight West Craven 27-6 last week. The Tigers seems to get better as their competition gets closer to their level of classification. So I look for this to be a great game. The Rams will find out more about who they are as a team, and the Tigers will definitely help them figure that out. This will be the best game that the Tigers offense will play thus far on the season, but I think that they will come up short. WPA 22 GC 30

Two undefeated teams will battle it out on the field Friday night in Wilson. The Gators are coming off of a win over Bertie 46-6, where their defense dominated the game. The Warriors are coming off of a come back victory over 2A state champions Tarboro 35-32. The Warriors had to score all 35 points in the second half to complete the comeback. They'll need to start fast in this because the Gators defense has been playing lights out all season. The Gators will need to complete drives on offense to help their defense out. And I don't believe that the Gators will have enough offense to keep up with the Warriors. MC 6 WH 28

These two rivals are no strangers to each other, the Eagles hasn't beaten the Wolfpack since 2020. This may be a great opportunity for the Eagles to put an end to that losing streak, as they'll face a wounded Wolfpack team. The Eagles defense has played great through two games, but their competition hasn't been up to par. While the Wolfpack had to bite and claw their way to victory last week against 6a West Brunswick 39-36. A game where the Wolves started fast but then slowed down. The Eagles had no problem dismissing West Bladen 35-6. Even though the Wolves are without some key pieces, I believe they'll still be too strong for the Eagles. W 35 EB 17
