The Clarion Ledger bias against us theory sounds like paranoia.

But damn it stuff like this doesn't happen every time. It's game week of the first game of the season and what C-L story shows up in my Facebook feed? A story about Lebby being on a hot seat and what the must-wins and buyout are. Didn't click on it to read it and I'm not linking it here. But that's not an appropriate story for a beat writer to be running with 5 days before the season starts. 17 him and 17 them.

To be fair, who here doesn't think Lebby needs to make a serious step forward this year in order to keep his job.
You had 8 months to run that story. And if we're sitting at 2-4 midway through the season, it might be appropriate then. But not the week of the first game of the season. Where's his story of potential bowls we might go to this year?

You mean they didn't have a lead story about one of our players running over someone's dog with their car? Seriously, how many stories do they ever run about OM players have a speeding ticket or some other minor incident non-football related? Its been going on for decades. One school has the medical, law and journalism schools so we should never expect fair treatment in the MS courts or the MS media. And my suggestion would be not to say you are a State fan when you are admitted to the hospital.

Far be it for me to take up for them (17 'em), but there's this one from a few months ago.

Oh sure, 90% of 6packers can call for it and say 3 wins is the ceiling but when the CL does that it is over the line. Next thing you know is they will be saying year 3 yada yada if he doesn't get 7 wins we have to fire him and hire Huff because he beat Mullen so obviously he is the next Cignetti. The gall of these mother17ers !!!

The highest use for the CL was as a birdcage liner. Now that everything is digital, I don't know why they exist.

Honestly, if it weren't for the occasional mention of them on this message board, I would have no clue that they are still a published newspaper. I live in the Jackson metro area and haven't seen one of their papers in numerous years. I imagine in another 10 years or so, once people my parent's age have died off, that rag will be gone as well.
Good riddance.

Maybe it's because my care level is down, but is Lebby not on the hot seat? I don't see the issue here.

Beyond that, we have people here reporting to us that the Clarion Ledger may have been called the Clarion Liar before as if that is a new, profound statement. This site has lost its way.

Pat's right. Why run this story now, or at all at this point? If he starts 4-0 and has an upset along the way (nearly exactly what happened LAST YEAR if we had just closed out UT) he won't be on the hot seat at all.

Those dipshits don't know if he's on the hot seat any more than you or I do (yet). Was this an editorial by someone who knows ball, or (more likely) presented as some sort of fact-based "news" article?

According to my olemiss friends, St. Pete is already on a short leash and he'll for sure be on the hot seat if he loses to Louisville and/or LSU - but I won't bother to go search for that article. That's the point. They only sow unnecessary confusion and chaos on one side.

I stopped reading them after their kid glove handling of Reverend Freeze and his goon squad, along with the "Thanks Rebs!" headline when we won the SEC baseball title back in 2016.

It was obvious the sports editor was a big fan of Ole Miss, and the owners of the CL are massive UM boosters. At that point I declined to give them my money and I haven't really regretted it.

Does it sound Genespage-ish? Maybe, but I don't give a damn.

17 'em.

EDIT: It was the final straw(s) in a LONG line of absolute stupidity, culminating with promoting to sports editor the same dipshit who told us we were being premature about Dak 17'n Prescott going into the 2014 season. Almost-interceptions, my hairy ***.

Where's the Tylenol?

Chat tells me the CL still offers a print edition. I'm very glad because I've been saying for 20 years the next time I knowingly spend money on that rag will be the run where they sign off.
