I know he's one of the highest paid running backs in the NFL and has been for a while. So what possessed hin to do commercials for Direct TV ?
To quote Jack Nicholson's character in the movie Chinatown to John Huston's...."How much money is enough, Mr. Cross ?"

Last I checked we were still capitalists here in the U.S.A.

The OP is clearly a fan of economies that are less inclined to allow for people to make as much money as they’d like.
There are economies that actually deter people from making as much money as they like ?
No, I was just thinking that one could possibly get to a point where they made enough money that they didn't need to ***** themselves out to sell some product. I mean...come on...Direct tv ?
Oh, and I've not been a fan of Barkley since he committed to Rutgers and then went to Happy Valley instead. But still...Direct tv ?

What do you have against Direct TV? I don’t feel one way or the other about it. These guys need to make as much as they can when they can. We have all seen that post-NFL life can be very cruel to some.

Huh? Athletes doing commercials has been going on since Babe Ruth was alive. It’s an easy payday, why not?

Saquon is going into year 9 and will be 30 this winter. He still has skills but he said he likes acting in commercials and is building a national profile in ads,. He's popular, likeable and played for 2 teams with big media markets. He's partnering with Peyton Manning for Nationwide and does other large accounts like Lowes. He could be doing ads for a long time. I don't think Manning would share ads with just any ole football player.
Cant blame a player for setting up a second career that pays. Manning making 25 million year. Mahomes and Kelce probably top current players

Weird post. Multiple SB winning coach Jimmy Johnson was doing dick pill ads for years. Shaq does Icy Hot and The General commercials

Don't blame them at all

OP smoking too much funny stuff. For a NY sports fan, DirectTV Stream is the best streaming service since it carries YES, MSG and SNY. Plus all the others you need. It may be a little more than the others but worth it. And why would Saquon not want to maximize his revenue for a small amount of work?

Actually, I speak from experience with Direct TV as years ago we had it, but switched to a better service after some years of being an unhappy customer. We still have the dish on our roof as a reminder of "the good old days".
I should have guessed that some here would totally miss my point. I was not complaining about a football player doing a stupid commericial. I was wondering why a guy who has been making a huge amount of money for quite a while would be a pitchman for what from my experience is a mediocre product. I saw a recent article about the palatial estate he's moving into. I was just thinking that if there ever was gonna be a time where he didn't need to be a hawker of some product now was gonna be the time.
BTW, I get why ex-players are out there hawking crap. But a guy who has been making $20 million a year for years ? That's why I referred to the Jack Nicholson line from Chinatown. "How much is enough, Mr. Cross ?"
I would also add that some here apparently have a far less negative opinion of product pitching than I do.

It's probably 2 days of "work" to film these commercials for tons of dough. Easiest gig in the world. Would be crazy to turn it down.
