Can't really blame the general fanbase for that.
It gets even worse if you remove Visitor tickets and AD tickets (recruits, VIPs etc).

Silo? I've lived at the shore most of my life. We stay home and away from the beaches (or we take a trip somewhere) on the three major holiday weekends. In general, NJ people outside of the shore areas go to the shore on holiday weekends.
The Coliseum holds 78,000 so it may appear sparse but there could be 30,000 fans in there despite the look.
Oh please like other people around the country do not do things on holidays
School already is session for both college and high schools...different this year
In session? Really? In most NJ schools, school starts the Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day. Many families take their family vacations in the last two weeks before Labor Day and/or are busy with back to school shopping and preparation for the school year.
No shít Sherlock! This isn't about out game. This is about a Top 20 team with an exciting season ahead of them playing to a mostly empty stadium.
We are the early game of the Thursday night double header on BTN: same thing we've done the last 2 years.
I understand that, but my question is are we voluntarily choosing that time slot or is the B1G/BTN mandating it?
The Jersey Shore was the greatest advertisement for the jersey shore, really put it on the map!
Official capacity is 52,454, but they can actually fit upwards of 55K in it.
Even better for me: I take the day off, start the tailgate at 10, and have a 2 meal tailgate before heading into the game.
Mandated by the BTN: they will always schedule the later game for a Midwest team's home game.
I am more than certain that the student section, if the weather holds up, will be full or close to it Thursday evening. The kids have shown they come out early in the season when the weather is good the last couple of years. Bad weather and/or the team not playing well different story.
Lets hope the weather holds up and the potential threat of thunderstorms doesnt materalize. A weather delay would make our game look like the East Coast version of USC was vs SJSU yesterday.

Turns out our school in town opens on Thursday--perhaps with a "late" Labor Day, and schools now closing with a chance of flurries in the winter, this is a thing now. . . .

17 years ago... 1. People had more reason to be interested in college. They were less expensive, yielded more job opportunities. 2. More kids were interested in football, from middle school flag onward. 3. People weren't yet addicted to that device in their pockets.
This team is never going to win the Big Ten conference, it's never going to be in the playoffs. All the fun traditional rivalries are gone. Despite their NIL budget they're recruiting is going to be diminished in the future. USC made stupid decisions and now they're paying the consequences. No one should feel sorry for them. UCLA and Cal and Stanford and Washington are all sharing the same space. Oregon is the only team that even has a remote chance of doing well under the current college football paradigm. And that success is going to be short lived.
Im sure they have classes at 4...why would rushing to a game be important to them when they can upwrap some gummies and hit a house party at 530

They have already kicked in. It’s more humid and hot than I can ever remember. East coast humid. It even rained which is extremely unusual in August. You don’t live here so wouldn’t know.
Very wrong. When SC is playing for championships, they are as big as any pro team here. In fact, I’d say even more than almost all. Those Reggie Bush teams were Lakers level in LA.
Labor Day weekend is not that big a deal here in OC. Mostly families with babies. HS sports and youth sports are in full swing
NO student that would attend a game will have to decide on class or game. Thursday is the big night out. Students will be there in full force
The South Jersey Shore has always been more laid back with the exception of Wildwood.
Very few have class at 6:00 pm, and early start still allows students to get to the Thursday night parties after the game. I think it’s a perfect start time for them.

90,000+ fans craving high level football only show in town, most of them went over to the 2 NFL teams. All thats left for the SJSU game is alumni and some die hards. The fans will come out if they play Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State but otherwise will look like that.

The real issue is people's habits have changed, especially post-Covid, and a lot don't want to come out anymore, regardless of price, unless it's a big time game
Once you lose a customer, it's almost impossible to get them back
That's why teams are making more club seats and shrinking stadiums instead of expaniding
