Keeping it current, I probably knew it was a cover by Whitney - I'm not sure she wrote any of her music - but finding out Dolly wrote I will Always Love You was a bit of a surprise.

Downtown Train, Rod Stewart version and Old 65, Eagles version. I was shocked because I had been hearing them for years on the radio before discovering Tom Waites even existed.
