Evanston over Palatine, who does it say more about?

Evanston beat Palatine 14-13. This snaps a 10 game losing streak against the MSL (part of the reason why the CSL and MSL stopped playing each other were Evanston, New Trier, Deerfield, and GBN's inability to compete in these games)

Does this say more about Evanston going 2-0 with Pearlman at the OC coming back to coach with his former QB? Or does it say more about Palatine in Bobbit's first year having a rebuilding year?

Palatine absolutely choked. Evanston scored on a 40 yard bomb with 230 left. Then Palatine returned the kickoff all the way to the 18. Penalty, 3 incompletions into heavy traffic, and finished it off with an interception. Very bad.

Evanston is very athletic and was better than they've been in recent years, but Palatine played horribly last night. In the first half they fumbled at the Evanston 3 yard line, and turned over the ball on downs inside the Evanston 5 yard line. They were down 7-3, but if they'd taken advantage of their opportunities they could have been up 17-7.

Then the 4th quarter... two straight interceptions on consecutive Evanston drives, and a fumble recovery - all resulting in drives starting on Evanston's side of the field, and all they can manage is 3 points.

Lastly, they surrender the lead and trail 14-13, and then they return the kickoff to Evanston's 19 yard line - and get zero points.

Evanston looks like a pearlman team. Speed. Speed speed. The lines are small but are in good position. DL looks like three safeties playing dl. They play to their strengths. Some great athletes and they have speed. Nothing too flashy but they do the things they do well.

rough night for the pirates but give credit to Evanston for taking advantage of their few opportunities. On3 match up said palatine by 14. That was about right. The delay of game from the 1 yard line on third down was killer. That was the story of their night though.

Evanston did win state in Track last year so plenty of speed walking the hallways at Evanston, seems they got them out and committed to football as well.

I had the same thought. New Trier and Evanston look better and their schedules are easier. Minimum 6-3 or 7-2 for both of them. And if they beat GBS that's 7-2 or 8-1.

I think both New Trier and Evanston beat GBS. Maybe York is down as well since GBS gave them a close game? Fremd beats LZ and GBS. LZ lost to Antioch. That was a shocker honestly. I think LZ is very very down this year. The game against Fremd I thought they looked really bad but maybe it was Fremd's defense. GBS did okay against Fremd but Fremd moved the ball pretty easily but it was a one score game late. I don't know what to make of Fremd. THey should win easily against Metea this week. PRospect game will tell us a lot about Fremd.

Only week three gents. Long way to go!

Palatines offense is brutal. Zero running attack. Predictable screen game. JV level play calling. Long season ahead.

Evanston is certainly going to have a much better record this year... the schedule basically replaces St Laurence, Fremd & Hoffman Estates with Palatine (which to my eyes looked down), Philips, and Maine East, so after beating Palatine the record flips from 3-6 to 6-3. GBS might be beatable, I think NT and MS would be big upsets.

They definitely have some guys that can fly, the lines are much smaller overall and inexperienced, so we'll see how they do against better competition. There was actually quite a few good players on last years team, but the schedule was much more difficult and they couldn't get out of their own way with penalties and turnovers (we must have broken the state record for fumble on receiving the snap).
