Trimble joining Mitchell’s new case. Expect fewer trolls.
This was the obvious choice. I be shocked if the judge doesn't find in favor of the players if this is going to the same judge. This was basically the SEC just plugging their ears and going "NU UH!!" really loud.

Glad we’re fighting back, but not sure how good of an argument this is…don’t think the NCAA can stop the SEC (or any conference really) from doing what they want to do internally. And the NCAA will probably point directly to that ghoul Capolouto’s signature on the new rule.
The players were ruled eligible by a judge. I don't know why anyone is thinking there's something above the United States court systems.... Mitchell is playing. It might have to be fought but Mitchell is playing and Sankey can suck it.
1. I think you're might be right about the NCAA not being able to stop the SEC. They are separate entities, the NCAA doesnt govern the SEC. I'm surprised they didn't file against the SEC directly.
2. The players are bringing the lawsuit here, not UK. What Eli signed doesn't really matter for THIS case as far as I can tell.

I guess it does make sense, now the NCAA can say they directed the SEC and the SEC ignored it which makes suing the SEC pretty easy. Or if the NCAA hasn't already done so, they can advise the SEC to STFU.
The court ruling is against the NCAA so would have to be a filing to include the SEC as well. The SEC absolutely can stop him from playing or punish UK if they do play him. Not that I agree with that at all but UK needs to be hammering on Sankey regarding this.

Also pretty clear that the rule that set this whole topic off last night is just a mirror of an NCAA rule.
The SEC would have a better leg to stand on if the transfer rule they have in place for interconference transfers had anything unique to it. Them just following the NCAA transfer portal timing for respective sports makes the rule completely unnecessary…outside of this opportunity to weaponize it against a 5-5 class of 2022 potential athlete.
Feel bad for Mitchell to have to deal with this.

Once the courts recognized the athletes as employees rules like what the SEC tried to pull were never going to work. Changing up these rules mid-stream isn’t going to be allowed.
IMO. I think Mitchell plays. The SEC rule was adopted after Mitchell was ruled eligible.

Trimble joined to be part of the original TRO. Mitchell's update in the amendment is to challenge the SEC rule via the NCAA.
The rule wasn’t established after Mitchell was ruled eligible. The rule had an actual place in history as it used to be unique and different than the NCAA rules(eg sit out a year, different dates, etc.)
The penalties associated with violating the rule are what’s new and “draconian”. Violations before were just to make the kid ineligible for the year. Now they’re pivoting to absurd penalties to the schools to circumvent courts while not commenting on eligibility.
That's how they could get the SEC and NCAA to back the Hell down. Put enough zeros on that lawsuit to a billion dollar industry. They will fold like a cheap suit, just like the NFL did when threatened with a CTE lawsuit
A judge can stop the SEC if he chooses. They have no more anti trust protection than the NCAA does.Whats good for the goose should also apply to the gander.

The SEC rule has been effect for years. Hopefully this is a case of Ross Dellenger not having his facts correct in his tweet. Because the other option is that the attorneys representing Mitchell's case don't have their facts straight.

Correct. The SEC can however enact penalties against UK. The SEC can't strip wins. But the SEC can fine UK a huge amount of money, strip UK of voting privileges, and ban UK from the SEC tournament.
