Where to stay for Happy Valley gameday visit...

I'm looking at coming in for the White Out game vs. USC. I enjoy catching big games around the country & have yet been to Beaver Stadium. Thought this might be a good one. Not looking to spend $300+ a night so looking somewhere north & west of town. Eye balling some motels in Philipsburg.
Any other tips or recs?

Best bet is to stay somewhere 2 hours + from State College. The big night games draw people from far and wide and hotel rates( and AirBnb) sky rocket for those games and are usually sold out well in advance. Also, if you are driving in be prepared to spend 2-3 hours or more getting out of the parking lots(depending on where you park).

Thanks, Yeah, that will be part 2 in the equation. Best way to somewhat fast track it out of there. Although that may or may not be a big issue. I can always pull up some "Mountain West" after dark on Sirius radio getting out of there. Fresno & Boise start at 10:30 that night ;)

Best way to fast track it out of there is to not park in the stadium lots. I think there are busses from the Target parking lot on the north side of town that you pay a couple bucks to ride which drop you off close to the stadium before and after the games. From Target you can be on 99/322 in less then 5 mins

May I suggest - find a Marriot in Harrisburg, travel the turnpike to Rt 99 exit to PSU - or any hotel/motel along that exit or along #99 and travel early to enjoy College Ave during the day, see the 'Lion' and late brunch/mid-day snack anywhere before joining every tailgate possible. Park somewhere other than the stadium if you need to leave early - or enjoy the thrilling driving problems into the night.

That drive from Beaver Stadium over the mountain to Phillipsburg is special late at night after a White Out. Make sure you are all plowing through post game road beers the entire drive.

That drive sucks even after a 330 game in the fall. We did the Clearfield hotel thing as we were heading west on Sunday. Certainly a cheaper option but some white knuckles at dark in the rain…

“Special”? No road beers & running the trip solo make that drive more or less special ⁉️
