Literally makes no sense, you’re telling me the SEC is going to blow up multiple of their highest grossing programs because of maybe 2-4 players
SEC is an NCAA sub organization so whatever the courts rule NCAA to do the SEC must also do.
Sankey is mistaken thinking the SEC rules matter in the age of lawyers but they don’t at all. Your literally taking food from Mark Mitchell’s mouth, so it would be ruled unfair, cruel and unusual

It depends on how they try to implement it I think. Guys that signed NFL contracts and got cut and then tried to return to the NCAA would probably lose their court case I would think. But if the SEC has the gall to go after people who have been granted injunctions granting a fifth year, I can't imagine that ending well for them in courts. Judges don't usually like people bypassing their decisions based on cute technicalities like "we aren't the NCAA, just a subsidiary of it".
Yea if anyone signed onto an actual team I can see and that should be the intention. If someone was on the training camp roster or summer league I dont think should be the intention and in the past those guys have been eligible.
I believe numbers 2&3 will be the point of contention. We all know what stance Sankey will take . Will we fight it ? I guarantee we wouldn’t if Barnhart was still here .
I would think that the SEC can have any rule it wants so long as it does not conflict with or violate an NCAA rule. Kind of like the deadline for players transferring from one SEC school to another.
So, does these new rules apply to international prospects who signed contracts?
Who do you predict will violate them? Think a member school AD is going to let a coach break the rules? Didn’t every school give Sankey the power to make these punishments? Do you think Stein or Pope is going to play an ineligible player under the rule? I don’t.
Yes they can but the problem is them coming up with the new rule to invalidate a court order TRO. That will be where they might get into trouble.
Someone is going do it and force the SEC's hand. What actually happens after that will be interesting.
They will attempt to play the kids who didn’t “sign” a contract yes. By the rules Mitchell is eligible as is Afari
No doubt about that. Lawyers are already being contacted for it I would bet.
Afari is not eligible under a court ruling. The only way you get Mitchell “eligible” is by a TRO. UK will ask for guidance from the SEC as to Mitchell IF we get close enough and he still has an order in place.
Once Afari is added to Kentucky TRO he’s eligible. Trimble is trying to be added as well for Louisville.
Seems weird the SEC can create a rule that forces the NCAA to violate multiple TRO orders. But who the hell knows anymore lol
Imo this is targeted at LSUs wild conduct. Not Mitchell.
This will backfire on the SEC the same way it backfired on Fender Guitars by trying to strong arm other manufacturers from selling a generic “Stratocaster”!

I didn’t see anything here that would keep me from playing Mitchell if I’m Pope. If you believe Mitchell makes a larger impact to winning than 50% less Pope and 50% more Mark Fox, it’s an easy decision. Put your horse on the track.

I think you hit all the big points. In addition those rules and penalties wont last through the first legal challenge. Just my opinion of course but it just seems ridiculous and petty.
I agree they didn't outlaw anything they just put penalties on it for doing it.
I'm about winning the championship. I don't give damn about those penalties. I would continue to play him.
If they continue to break up stuff then the Kentucky fan should strike Definitely feel that for the basketball season.

It was a 16-0 unanimious vote by the SEC schools. That puts them in a great position to enforce these rules.
Let's say an LSU athlete sues. The judge will look him in the eye and say "LSU literally just voted for these rules. Why should you be exempt from the rule if your school believes you should be held to it?"

I don’t know. What do they tell Jon Scheyer, Dusty May, Todd Golden, Dan Hurley, Kelvin Sampson, Nate Oats and virtually every top college basketball coach at this moment in time?
Maybe they’re all doing it wrong and should hire UKBB4Ever to remind them how only failures pay attention to massive datasets and demonstrated facts of mathematics. I bet Golden, May and Hurley would surely trade in those championships for message board attaboys while running antiquated offenses and showing all the nerds up.
