I wasn't looking at Geneva being a big test for Oswego, but apparently it's going to be better than I thought.

Massey has Geneva as 3.5 point dog.

These two games are interesting. Not sure if Rochester can stay close with Batavia but never thought I would see these two on the same field.

Rita/GBW on Saturday will be a great game. With Rita at LA week 3 starting 0-3 for Rita is a real possibility if they lose.....not that it really matters anymore they have 3 wins for sure on their schedule.

It's the world we live in where the so-called "regular" season looks more like a 9-week "pre-season".

Percentage of teams to make the playoffs (per google)

NFL 43.75%

College Football (FBS) 8.7%

IHSA Football 58.27%

We could be Indiana where every team makes the playoffs and they have a blind draw so two 9-0 teams could play each other in the first round.

What's your point? The IHSA didn't expand the playoffs, it was voted on and passed by the member schools

It sucks. And those blind draws are only for teams in your area. Every single round of the tournament is already dictated in terms of the geographically representation of every team across all classes. That leads to a lot of blowouts in the State Championship because the North Winner can get to State without playing a single team from the stronger area of the State (Central Indiana) in the North bracket. 6A has gotten better lately since they started sending suburban Indy schools to the North bracket.

Cathedral and New Palestine could meet in the 1st round if the draw goes that way, which means It's possible that Indiana's 5A State Championship is in the 1st round of the playoffs. They are in the same 5 team Sectional.

True but my point is the larger the percentage of teams making your state playoffs, the larger the loopholes for non-competitive regular season play.

For instance, once IL teams get their 3 wins to make the playoffs this year, they can hold back key player(s) number of regular season games played or playing time until the playoffs which is not good for HS football.

They can, but I don't think they will. The coach who does that should be criticized heavily.

Kids get 36 guaranteed high school football games in their career if they stay healthy. That is basically the same as one baseball/basketball/volleyball season. 18 at the varsity level. Are you claiming that coaches are going to hold healthy kids out of regular season games under the guise of "winning in the playoffs?" And the kid is going to be okay with this? The other coaches on staff are going to sign off on it?

Hope not, who knows??

We did not leave these possible doors open when we had 6 classes and 32 teams per class.
