That’s a few days old he pitched a clean inning yesterday for AA getting 3 groundball outs on 10 pitches (8 strikes). He has struggled during rehab but hopefully on right track
This, last night's effort was encouraging. With the Cubs training staff I am concerned that he comes back, isn't effective, and then they announce he needed surgery all along. As with Maton's tendinitis which then turned out to be a partial tear of a ligament needing surgery. Who are they consulting?

The track record of the training staff unfortunately speaks for itself.

And we really need to be hitting Liberatore asap as we need 2 of 3 this weekend and could really use a sweep while the brewers are playing the dodgers. Pretty gross feeling rooting for the dodgers

Solid win today wit one big blow coming from Suzuki's bat, and Holmes appeared to have knocked the rust off

Make that 3
Most Cubs thing ever. Reminds me of a guy named Lou Brock.

Trivia time- Who was the Cub that hit 3 homeruns on opening day back in the day? Not sure he ever hit another one and was gone by the end of the season.

This sets up the biggest Sox/Cubs series in memory.
Both teams in playoffs if season ends today with 39 games to go.

Pretty rare for this series this late.
Sox have Castillo tonite then 2 tbd starters on Tuesday and Wed...yikes.
Sox need to get one vs a hot cubs team 6 games better than Sox in the tougher NL.

It's relevant baseball in 2nd half of August...for suffering Sox fan....it's icing on cake after 3 straight 100 loss seasons...thanks Pope Leo!

Rumblings from Wrigley of a line shift. Kevin Alcantara and Owen Miller seen at the park. Javier Assad and Hoby Milner at the park.
Miller will require a 40 man move. I suspect Cabrera is going back on the IL due to a blister on his pitching hand. For sure Swanson is going on the IL. I suspect Triantos is going down.

Swanson out 4-6 weeks. Of course.

Sox fans won the battle but lost the game.
Entertaining ballgame despite the sad outcome

The game catches up to you pretty fast. It's humbling. Much like the Cardinal teams of the 1950s, at least @HoggI74 will have this one Saturday in August to cling to.
Refresh my memory of what the Cubs accomplished in the 50's...

Beating the Cubs is always nice but the Cards play for the big trophy. I cling to that...

Cards dominated the 60's, 80's. 00's and 10's. Remember, the Cards last 2 WS titles came as a wild card...

MLB needs to think about having “mercy” pitchers like the NHL has emergency goaltenders. Each stadium has to supply one. Either team could use it once they get behind by like 10-12 runs.

Excellent performance by Gausman last night. That's what the Cubs got him for. He's a guy you can hand the ball to in game 1 of a playoff series.
Solid game by Pedro Ramirez, too. He's gone from bench player to pretty much everyday second baseman seamlessly.

boner alert!

He can expect to, and it's nice to hear, I don't expect him to. I am much more excited about the Ben Brown news, he seems much farther along after facing batters in Arizona. Even as a short reliever Steele is going to need an extensive rehab assignment.
Shelby Miller really seems to be pushing his way into the conversation.
