For the second week in a row the Horses and Raiders will face a county rival. The Horses pulled away from Lakewood last week, while the Raiders made quick work of Hobbton. The Raiders like to mix it up with their ground and air attack. The Horses will have to rely on their defense to create a short field for their offense to get going. The question is can Clinton's defense slow down Midway's offense. I believe that the Horses defense will make it difficult for the Raiders offense, but it won't be enough. C 21 M 27
ROSEWOOD EAGLES 0-1 @ (15)NORTH DUPLIN REBELS 1-0
The Eagles defense played well in their loss to C.B Aycock last week, but their offense never got going. The Rebels defense held off Southside in their 28-14 win. The Eagles are still looking for their first score of the season, and they'll have to do it on the road against a Rebels defense that's not giving up much. I think the Eagles offense finally shows up and their defense will make a stop at the end for their first win of the season. R 22 ND 14
GOLDSBORO COUGARS 0-1 @ (13)GREENE CENTRAL RAMS 1-0
It's the same ol Cougars, nothing has changed from last season from the way that the Cougars played in last week's loss to County rival Eastern Wayne 77-0. The Rams
jumped on North Lenoir and never looked back, winning 49-20. I do think that the Cougars will get on the scoreboard in this one, but I expect another big night from the Ram's running back. G 6 GC 55

The Bulldogs comes in to this game after a bad snap over the punter head, late in the 4th quarter, with the score tied at 14, cost them against East Duplin last week. The Vikings kept finding ways to make mistakes against South Central in their season opener. Their air raid offense only put up 8 points in their 30-8 defeat. While the Bulldogs offense was a no show for much of their game. I believe both of these defenses are really good, and it'll be interesting to see which offense can get the ball moving. The Vikings through the air, or the Bulldogs on the ground! I think the Vikings has little more speed than the Bulldogs, and that's going to make it difficult for the Bulldogs to cover those receivers. K 20 WRH 12

The East Duplin Panthers will face their second Bulldogs opponent for the second week in a row. Both of these teams had a good showing in their wins last week. I think the Panthers are better defensively than the Bulldogs are at this point. The Bulldogs running back ran for 298 yards last week against Ayden-Grifton, and their defense held the Chargers to 9 points. If the Bulldogs can get their backs going, and sustain a few long drives to wear down the Panthers defense, then I think that they'll have a good chance of getting the win. But I think the Panthers defense will force enough stops to secure the victory. ED 31 P 21

The Vikings had their hands full in last week's come from behind victory over Rocky Mount. The Vikings scored a late touchdown to complete the mission 38-34. The Warriors costed in their 33-9 win over Lee County. The Vikings and the Warriors both played for a state championship last season in their classifications, with the Vikings bringing home another championship, while the Warriors were over matched against Crest. In their meeting last season the Vikings jumped out on the Warriors and was able to secure a 34-17 victory at home. The Warriors were able to slow the Vikings offense down in the second half of that game. The Vikings ran for over 400 yards, but the Warriors had a quarterback that gave the Vikings defense fits. Well he's back, and he ran and passed for 150 yards in their win last week. And the Warriors run defense played lights out, barely giving up 50 yards on the ground. They won't hold the Vikings to under a 100 yards on the ground, but I don't believe that they'll give up 400 yards on the ground this time. T 20 H 31
SOUTH CENTRAL FALCONS 1-0 @ (19)FARMVILLE CENTRAL JAGUARS 1-0
The Jaguars started off hot against Washington in their season opener, led 13-0, and then they went cold and gave up 24 points in the second quarter. Their defense stiffened up in the second half only giving up 7 points. Their offense put together a last minute drive and a late score gave them a 32-31 come back victory. The Falcons didn't give up any points until the 4th quarter against Kinston in their 30-8 win. The Jaguars offense will need to move the ball and keep the Falcons defense off balance. I think that the Falcons are a step ahead of the 3a teams on their schedule, and will dominant the Jaguars just like they did Kinston. SC 28 FC 15
WEST BRUNSWICK TROJANS 1-0 @ (8)WHITEVILLE WOLFPACK 1-0
Last season the Trojans had a big second half to pull away from the Wolfpack, after the game was tied 7-7 at the half. The Wolfpack took care of West Columbus 53-8 in their opener, while the Trojans beat County rival South Brunswick 41-20. The Trojans has a do it all quarterback, he'll drop back to pass, and he'll take off running with the ball. The Wolfpack has a quarterback that can throw it all over the field, and their backfield is loaded with a few big backs. This early season match up might be too much for the young Wolfpacks, but I think that they'll avenge last season loss against the Trojans. WB 12 W 35
(4)NORTHEASTERN EAGLES 1-0 @ (16)D.H CONLEY VIKINGS
The Eagles looked very impressive in their opener last week against Bertie cruising to a 66-0 victory. No word yet on how the Vikings did in their opener against Laney. The Vikings marched in to Elizabeth City and defeated the Eagles last season 34-19. In a game where the Eagles led at the half 19-7. The Vikings shut down the Eagles running game holding them to under 40 yards on the ground. While the Vikings offense rushed for over 350 yards. The Vikings lost some key pieces from last season, while the Eagles returns a lot. I think the Eagles are much better defensively than they were last season, and their offense is more explosive. Look for the Eagles to dominate from start to finish in this one. N 38 DHC 21

The Bears comes into this game looking for respect and there's no better way than to get it by defeating a Cougars team that made it to the Eastern Semi Final in 4a last
season. The Cougars ddefeated the Bears last season 42-7 on their home field. The Bears had no problem downing Gates
County in their opener 44-12, while the new
look Cougars took care of business against their former head coach and Nash Central
36-8. That was kind of an emotional victory for the Cougars, now they'll have to regroup
and be ready for the bad news Bears
when they come to town. I think the Bears will get their respect, but I don't think they are ready for all that the new look Cougars

Wallace Rose Hill at East Duplin gave us the only competitive game in the first week from the SVC. A good defensive battle from the most part. WRH had a special teams play(punt return touchdown called back cause of a block in the back penalty) that could have won them the game, and then a special teams play(bad snap over the punter head) that cost them the game. My Tigers
had a good showing against a improving SW team. Midway offense looked unstoppable, they has size and some speed. Rosewood really impressed me defensively, Aycock scored two defensive touchdowns. Princeton is still putting up numbers on the ground. I think that they're still giving their running back too many carriers this early in the season. I felt like he was wore down by the end of last season. And Goldsboro looked terrible, even though I believe that Eastern Wayne is one of the best 4a teams in the East this year. My Tigers has this week off, so I'm thinking about going to Conley or either 
the Dog
