A HC and position coach should demand excellence and if attitude or effort are an issue then kick some arse and get rid of the problem. How can you have any kind of standard with that going on? This, if true, speaks to a larger cultural issue. But at the same time, there has to be communication both ways from the players through the position coaches. Players get down if they know a system will not work. The 3-3-5 sucked ***. Period. And why and how it took Ruhle 3 years to figure that out....well....you wonder.

He was blown away by fan support and really thought, like the rest of us, that 2007 would be special. We were top 10 at one point, had a top 5 recruiting class, and one of the biggest marquee games of the decade at home against USC. For Bo, we held on because we didn’t want to fire a 9 win coach no matter how toxic he was. For Frost, we held on because he was the former golden boy and the sense of despair if he couldn’t have success here. For Rhule, we are holding on because we gave him too much money over too many years. Riley was just somebody that should have never been hired. Eichorst was such a dumb ***.
