who's dropping kids off at college for the first time this year?

First time I dropped a kid off was a few years ago. Much drama. This year we just dropped of our youngest. No drama. I will say I never appreciated this song at the time, but it hit hard when we dropped our first off.
We dropped our youngest off 8 years ago. God willing, he'll get his degree this fall.
I’m through all that but took the doggos for a walk today thru w and l campus. It was sort of funny watching small groups of them play the socially awkward “meet your floor mates” games outside.
Isn’t that getting a bit far on the creepy side walking around campus to check out the females when they are now much younger get than your own kids?
We dropped our oldest off last fall. I had done zero mental prep because his dorm is about 200 yards from our house. It still eventually hit me when I found myself sitting alone in the evenings during the time he would typically come in and pop on a few episodes of community/parks and rec/the office. He hasn’t avoided us, thankfully. I feel a bit of remorse for how much I wanted to get away from my parents when I was that age.

My youngest started senior year of college yesterday. We are old hat at this by now so no drama. But it is weird to think this is the “last” year of school where we have an obligation. In many ways it provides a shape to a parent’s life for >20 years and then you turn around and it’s gone.
Helped may son move into his apartment this weekend. He's a sophmore. I kind of think it's the last full summer we will ever have together. That was a bit worse than freshmen year where they come back quite a bit.
I always think of my kids growing up and the punk song It's OK from Dead Moon. Has the best lines

Cool song. Don't love Pearl Jam's version. I am a basic ***** when it comes to "punk" so I think if Blink 182 were to cover this it would be rather incredible.
Same. Moved my oldest into his off campus housing a couple weeks ago. He is a sophomore as well. It was quite the realization as move in approached that this will likely be the last time the 5 of us (3 kids) live in the house together like we did all summer. Freshman year i knew he would be home for all of Xmas and summer break. Now….
As of right now, I am not really a fan of watching my kids grow up.
Totally understand about the punk thing. The background of them covering it is interesting. They had played it in the past here and there. They played Rosklide and unfortunately a crowd surge killed nine people. It really effected them. Some of the band thought they should break up and never play live again. Eddie Vedder met with Pete Townsend because the Who went through the same thing in Cincy in 79. When they came back to perform later in the tour, they brought the song out. It think it helped the band process the tragedy. This is the video of the song the first time coming back since the deaths. It's not the best performance of it which I why I didn't select it initially. I think they are trying to reconnect with crowd and literally tell themselves, "It's ok." You can really feel Ed's anxiety and worry.
They change their concerts every show. They also add tags to the end of the song Daughter. Since this came out on one of their DVDs, it's really become an anthem for the fans.
1:16 is where the action happens. One of my favorite phrases... "Sing loud cause it's outside. Sing loud because you're, your're still alive.....Just sing loud."
Daughter starts her Sr year next month, but she hasn't been home for the summer since her freshman year. We'll actually see her tonight at a Giants game, but then back to the empty nest.
