A small price to pay for - as The RIck says - a schedule full of "Go State, Beat Delaware" games :)

Oh, and parking?

Going up even more dramatically - and far less of it to be available for the lunch bucket crowd - after they allocate even larger portions of the parking (that which lies in the same area code to Beaver Stadium) for the Club/Suite groups, and the private commercial operations.

Enjoy!

If you are in East (again, unrenovated), your costs are going up by 13-23%, depending on specific area (I guess that price increase is for your opportunity to look across the field at your "betters" in the West Clubs and Suites  )
😉I was never impressed by the aristocratic class

I can only assume that you and Barry will no longer be attending?
Why would you assume that Wilbury?

As you know, Barry lives in state college and probably finds the best opportunity in town for seats and prices

My wife takes care of her 97-yr old mother on a daily basis, she just came home a half hour ago, after some talk about our crazed government and I asking how "mama" is today I told her the increase of $538 for our two ADA seats. She replied, "thought it would be more than that". 🤷‍♂️

Had the season tickets for 26-yrs, although, I've only been to three home openers since 2021, due to some health issues, but my kids and grandkids enjoy the seats.

Not sure if I understand your comment.

Those prices I listed - and as listed in PSU release? No, they definitely do NOT include parking.

Or are you noting that "parking" is another cost that will be added in (for most folks) when they look at their total expenditures (that would, of course, be correct)

I don't wish to be flippant about your post, but how the hell else didn't you expect the ticket prices to skyrocket?
Of course, the season tickets will increase greatly, especially if the ICA doesn't receive their yearly stadium donations of say........$70 million +/-
Considering that my point was flippant, feel free to do the same.

The objective of the project should not be to simply pay for itself, but generate a greater cash surplus for the Athletic Department (not as obvious as it should be given Penn State's financial brain trust). Kraft had better hope for some very good football teams in the coming years.

Given your situation, it seems the Government should help subsidize your annual PSU football ticket outlay.

Zeno,
My seat prices (east side) went for the 2027 season from $1,156 to $1,425 per seat, an increase of $269 a seat (total of $538) per year.
Gotta pay to play 🙄

Did you seat increase also?
Unfortunately they did.

Folks in the new west side "peasant seats" are going to just love the new intimate feel and location of their bleacher seats.

Photos, videos of Penn State's Beaver Stadium renovation

FWIW: Season ticket sales of the new West bleacher seats (as of this morning). The "blue dots" are unsold.
I must say I am a bit surprised at the lack of sales up there - I thought the first year would be pretty high demand (because it is "new" if for no other reason). But if they can't sell them in Year 1 (despite the 1/2 price sale they had last month for individual game tickets), that doesn't bode really well.

Each game - including both season tickets and individual game tickets - remain basically half empty (or more) in the west upper deck. Aside from the USC game (white out) which clearly had the most single game ticket sales - has probably around 1/2 the number of empty seats.

Most of the former West Bowl - Lower seating area is being converted to Club Seating.

Portions will be non-club, but converted to Chairback vs Bench seating.

If you previously had seats in the West Lower Bowl - in the areas that are NOT being taken over for clubs (basically the "wings" of the West Lower), your costs will be going up by over 2 times as much, to over 2 1/1 times as much (and, of course, an additional one-time "donation" of $2,500 per):

View attachment 1398622
Barry,

My sis-in-law has two seats in section 111, if I'm reading you correctly, the $2,500 upfront fee is for each seat.
So she'll be coughing up $5,000 for the upfront fee.

The capital contribution is one time per account, not per seat.
A few questions:

1) is the “capital contribution” required in order to secure a persons’ desired season tickets?

2) what happens if a NLC member decides to omit the “capital contribution”? Do they get demoted?

Is there a similarity with California and Sandy, and the Kraft PSU fubar.
Certainly - though every project is different, obviously. There are a lot of similarities - but also numerous unique aspects (that could be a lengthy list, including numerous differences that are based on the simple differences between where the programs at Cal and PSU fall within the college football landscape).

There were a lot of similarities in the "messaging" (including that "sales of new "premium" seating would pay for it").

Overall, the Cal Memorial renos where much larger in scope, and less costly (even when accounting for the chronological differences) - overall much more cost efficient than Beaver Stadium's partial renovation. Amazingly enough.
So one could reasonably claim the Barbour-led FUBAR at Cal was significantly more "fiscally prudent" than PSU. Which is amazing. Though I would say it is probably a "tie" with respect to which was handled in the more unrighteous and deceiving manner.

The capital contribution is one time per account, not per seat.
So, is it your understanding that:

If I have 2 seats, and my friend has 10 seats, we would each pay $2,500?
Or, if I had 4 seats, and my friend had 4 seats, I could just not renew mine, and my friend bumps up to 8 seats (and we split them) we could reduce our "contribution" from $5,000 to $2,500?

Is that your understanding?

The "capital gift" is a one-time payment per account. It only applies to the west side and the amount varies by location. There is no "capital gift" requirement for the north, south, or east. Your hypothetical above is accurate if you want to get into an argument with your friend about who gets the benefits of NLC points. Anyway, check your emails from ICA. It's all there.

If I'm misunderstanding, please post the correct information and educate me.

The renovations of Memorial (Cal) and Beaver Stadium were done for vastly different purposes so discussion of scope and costs are apples-oranges comparisons.

A number of things are noteworthy:

a. Barbour tossed a new $153 million training complex into a project that was largely geared to remediating seismic threats to Memorial Stadium (which sits on top of the Hayward Fault), taking the total cost to more than $450 million;

b. funding of the Cal project was to be done almost exclusively through the sale of premium seating. Penn State points to more diversified sources.

c. reports of the amount of money raised by Barbour turned out to be ten or more times that which was actually received/committed.

While Kraft & Co. may be guilty of some degree of financial legerdemain, they have a way to go to achieve Barbour's incompetence and mendacity while at Cal. That said, it's still early, so stay tuned.

I believe these apply (primarily at least) to what will be left of the West lower bowl tickets - that are not replaced w Clubs and Suites.
Obviously, most of the West Lower space will now be Clubs/Suites. Who ends up buying those? Who knows (but probably NOT primarily the folks who used to have regular bleacher seats in the West Lower bowl).

Current seating in the lower West Bowl is around 13,000 asses (that is a good chunk of the existing public seating (current public non-premium seating in Beaver is around 60,000+/-, once you account for student tix, visiting team allocation, current premium seats etc).
After the reno - how many of those formerly 13,000 seats will be available for "non-premium? Tough to say exactly, but I would guess maybe 2,000-3,000. Those 2-3,000 non-premium seating areas in the West Lower are supposed to become "chairback", but not Club or Suite.

So - where do those 13,000 who get displaced go?

They could, and I suppose some will, buy up some of the few chairback/non-premium - at a cost 2-3 times more than they currently pay, for seats that will mostly be in a less desirable location (on the "wings" near the end zones). I think that is what poster "Step" is going to do.

But most folks are not going to be in the market to take their annual costs from - lets say - $2,500 for 4 season tickets, to $6,000 per year (plus the "capital donation")
In any event, AT LEAST 10,000 season ticket holders - many long-time season ticket holders, are going to be without a home - unless they want to pony up the REALLY big $$$ for clubs and suites. Most, obviously, are not going to have the means or the desires to do that.

So what happens?
It doesn't take a savant to run through the different scenarios, and nearly any scenario involves large "relocations" - affecting everyone downstream of the Club/Suites crowd.
There is no easy way to do this type of re-seating - but some are better than others - what will PSU do? (SPOILER: Buckle-up)
And how does the "Elevate Deal" factor in? PSU claimed "Elevate Deal" will not influence decisions, but I don't think anyone believes that.

It will be interesting.

Yep, no doubt. Trying to get closer to apples-to-apples one has to cut out the spend for Cal's complex. (which I did)

And FWIW, figuring just how much of the total costs should be attributed to "fault remediation" is a tough task - though one can now look back at the bit that involved the laying of a "floating base" (or "expansion joints", or whatever one wants to call them) and get a better idea. It was not insignificant, but also not nearly the major cost driver.

b. funding of the Cal project was to be done almost exclusively through the sale of premium seating. Penn State points to more diversified sources.

True. But all the "diversified sources" discussed by PSU - that are NOT attributable to "premium seats" - don't amount to a hill of beans (relatively). "Philanthropy" that is really "premium seats" sales? The $3M/yr naming rights (that are unrelated to renovation)? The "365 day per year usage"? (that one was logically laughable) Etc

c. reports of the amount of money raised by Barbour turned out to be ten or more times that which was actually received/committed.

Yep - BIG FUBAR by Barbour - and everyone, who was paying attention, knew it. And she was disingenuous as hell w Cal's Board and Admin (that is the kind way to say it). That said, Cal's Board and Admin were also guilty of being adamantly ignorant of what was goiong on - asleep at the wheel.
And another LARGE issue there is that Cal simply isn't PSU (or Michigan, or OSU, etc).
As far as being righteous and honest? PSU has been - IMO - at least equally disingenuous, but in different ways.

While Kraft & Co. may be guilty of some degree of financial legerdemain, they have a way to go to achieve Barbour's incompetence and mendacity while at Cal. That said, it's still early, so stay tuned.

^^^ This, for sure.
Yep. Good context.

Barry,
I’m in the ADA seating in Section EE, with the potential recruits at my back. My total increase for two seats is $538. At one time, I was paying a reserved parking contribution of $2,500.

It was my sis-in-law who has two seats in Section WH I was asking about, wondering if she has to cough-up $2,500 or $5,000 for the initial buy-in. I believe it was Nittpicker that answered my question.

Ah Thanks. I knew your name came up with regard to the west side reseating - but I had some of the details bassackwards.

When you hear more about your S-I-L's situation, let me know. There is going to be a lot of confusion and consternation about that, I am sure.

There was one interesting point:

About time. This was one of the true oddities of Penn State football. Even numbers on one side and odd on the other. Used to confuse the heck out of visitors.
Just a bizarre Beaver Stadium idiosyncrasy.

Just called my Sis-I-L, they aren't sure at this time what to do for seating in the 2027 season. She doesn't wish to relocate to the high section in the west stands, possibly there may be enough season ticket holders in the east stands giving up their seats and give her an opportunity to relocate.

Just the ticket price increases and the $2,500 one time buy-in = approx. $5,000 more in 2027.
Is there a 'preferred parking donation' which has to be added?

For the last several years her son (who lives in North Carlonia) has been managing her account, and he is receiving the information.
Did the west side season holders receive additional information such as optional bench seating elsewhere in stadium?
I guess her son will be asking many questions.
