The Storm had a great start last night, picking up where they left off last season. Year 2 under Simmons is already showing — the team’s strength and toughness are clearly a step up from Game 1 last year. There’s still plenty to clean up in practice this week if they want to compete with the Shelbys, Burns, and Lincolntons of the conference, but they’re on pace to do so.
The other big observation was last night’s attendance. It was technically a “home game” for FV (held at SC, so they got the gate), but the number of spectators who came out on a muggy Thursday night was impressive. There was still a long line at the gate 10 minutes after kickoff and the stadium was packed. Football may be waning in some areas, but not in eastern Gaston County.

From what I am being told, they wanted to test the waters. They did not want to throw him into the fire off the go. That was his first game since his collarbone injury late in the middle school season last year. Kid did not lose a game when he played in two years and you and I both know what we saw. Given the defensive effort and his comfort growing, look out.
The freshman looked the part. I am sure the senior qb will find more success as a runner, on defenses not named Crest as well.

That should be a very competitive game. FV has some legit players. EG is on the rise and young. Wishing both of those programs some success this year.

Another clean night for the Storm. They played hard to their standard and didn’t let the level of competition dictate their effort. Plenty of guys got opportunities and played their snaps like they were down by 7 instead of ahead. Love what I’m seeing out of Cramerton. This season is going to be fun to watch, and much deserved for this senior class.
Biggest storyline today...
Cherryville(Linc) and East Gaston(Burns). How improved are each team and how do they stack up. I believe they both lose but can they take a step forward and show any improvements?
