I was excited about it until I read what's in it. It basically just cuts out some red tape but does little to address the underlying causes of why housing is unaffordable.
I actually reread what's in it using different sources thinking I was missing the sweeping reform. I wasn't. There is no sweeping reform.
He touts the BBB which had zero Dem support and is a terrible piece of legislation adding over $3T to the debt over the next ten years, shoveling billions to the wealthiest Americans while throwing needy families off assistance. Awesome. The GOP would have turned on the housing bill in a split second had Trump weighed in earlier. They passed it BECAUSE he supposedly supported it... until he didn't. Had they known earlier, they would have done their careful counting of the votes and allowed Collins, Murkowski, et al to vote for it while making sure they had just enough votes to sink it.
His very next comment was "I don't follow infrastructure." What's it matter if he doesn't follow it. It happened. His posts are a masterclass in avoidance.

Hakeem is owned by the billionaire donors. He will grease the skids to advance the republican agenda much like every other corporate democrat in the past. Can anyone remember an instance where a significant republican policy previously passed into law was rolled back by a corporate democrat? I remember Obama making the Bush tax cuts permanent and dropping a lot of bombs in the middle east.
Hakeem and Schumer won't do jack shid. That is why the base hates them with a passion and are voting in actual progressives and DSA at every opportunity.

I'm not speaking for him, but I think what he means is that under current Senate rules you need 60 votes to end cloture and get to debate and a vote on the Senate floor. Republicans don't have 60 votes and therefore really don't control the Senate. Now if they eliminated the filibuster (which I do not think is a good idea) then republicans would only need 51 votes, which they have, and then they would have control of all three branches.

you'll have to explain that a little...if what you're suggesting is that republicans need to work with Democrats and compromise, I'm on your team 100%. But, if you're suggesting republicans can get whatever they want passed with a 53 seat majority, then I have to know more about your thinking.
I have to admit, if the republican efforts in this congress were to prepare for 2026, their term was a distinct failure. In fact even if that wasn't their goal, this term has been a failure IMO

We re on the same side....I have voted dem only for 54 years...losing elections suck...we need independent voters to win and your all or nothing rhetoric does not play well with the indys I know.

Why do the Democrats have to be the responsible ones to come in and fix everything? The entire government (all three branches) are controlled by republicans. Where is the party of personal responsibility? You insult the dems (can't walk and chew gum), but it's your fiscal conservative party who is asleep at the wheel. Don't expect the dems to have to bend over and take what the republicans give them. If not for the electoral college, you guys could barely win an election.
