Fun fact and something that points to Rutgers lazy recruiting. Payton Zaun plays for a Fairfield. Will probably play 90 min tomorrow as a sophomore. Dad played at Rutgers. Mom did gymnastics at Rutgers. Dad coached men’s team for like 7 years at Rutgers. She’s too good for Fairfield but Ritgers never even watched her play.

- Jeff was awesome and a good guy; yet another head-scratching decision on the part of MON IMHO when it comes to recruiting

- who the hell thought it would be a good idea to open the season with 3 road matches? SMDH

Followed by it looks like 6 games in 18-19 days. Including a west coast trip to Oregon and Washington
A schedule from Hell

Wow...just looked again...that's BRUTAL! This is NOT the type of schedule you put together for a team that's coming off a bad season and relatively young. It's the kind of schedule for a veteran starting 11 that wants to be ready for the road both in conference play and the post-season because they have a shot at making deep runs.

2 of the 3 were short drives. I’m surprised Fairfield kept this game. They probably started practice like two weeks ago whereas Rutgers been there since mid July with the new rules

What ever happens this year is fair game for criticism but maybe we lighten up for last year.
Tiernan, Mason and 4 year starter Kassidy Banks all graduate ( and there were others)
All big ten freshmen( not sure if first of second team) Shaela Bradley and Claire Hammill leaving for North Carolina and Michigan. Then four star freshman , Puerto Rico national team mid member Martinez( I hope I got that right) did not play a single minute with no explanation. Has not played this year either also with no explanation
So that’s potentially 5 all big ten players and your top recruit. No one can survive those losses

Not talking about traveling distances. Just think this is a horrible schedule for a young and fairly inexperienced side (starting out with 3 road games).

That doesn't seem right. Didn't Rutgers have coaches at PDA Memorial Day showcases and Jeff Cup?

0-0 at half. This team is very very very incohesive, especially the starting unit. Little to no combinations or playing off one another, more than plenty of dribbling until the ball is taken away or playing mistimed, errant passes to nowhere. Obviously we're only 2.5 games in, but at what point do you shake up the starting lineup that hasn't been able to muster up a single goal thus far ??

0-0 tie, again. Several times already this season, I've noticed the substitutes playing well and gaining momentum, and MON foolishly pulls them off the field. Playing with a LOT more intensity and hunger, would love to see some shuffling to get some of them more time, especially the forwards. This starting group simply does not work. Overall entertaining game today, but the inability to finish on some of the chances today is alarming. A lot to be solved before conference play.

He hates when subs look good out there! Goes against his coaching style lol!

We might not win a game in conference play. Oooof.

O'Neill should be counting his blessings we have about 5 coaches that Zinn has ahead of him in the firing squad. Tying Fairfield is a joke.

I’m really confused by the subbing strategy. Is he just using these games to figure things out? Subs making an impact but pulled off before getting a chance to establish more rhythm. I’ve never seen a coach do this. Is it a Rutgers thing?

Agree. Not giving players a chance to establish a rhythm, especially Ashley Barron,

It seems like he plans it out beforehand and is too stubborn to feel out the game in real time and adjust. Awful coaching strategy that holds the team back consistently game after game.

ECNL took PDA Memorial Day away from them because weather always sucked. Jeff cup stops being important in like 9th grade. Are schools there, sure but not like a real showcase. And yes, Rutgers would have been there but they never once went to one of her games. Her team had some legit players on it and Rutgers never went to one game

Very strange. Looks like her team played in 2023 PDA Memorial Day showcase so you'd expect Rutgers to at least watch her when they were at the tournament. Jeff Cup has U15-U19, is it the weaker teams that go for those age groups?

Please don’t be angry with this. You do not anymore need to see a kid in person too many times
You set up a 4 prong stand either a 12toot pole protruding with a camera on top. That is hooked to a laptop by someone sitting at the base. You film who you want to see

of course it takes the personality out but it does not mean kids get seen . You can do the same thing at pda at any home game.

Vkj I know your girls were there
But 2023 I think they took 7-8 pda girls which is misleading. As you implied they did not get the top four from recollection.
So you got the 5th through 13 th best players in 2023
And 4th through ninth in 2024
So to me that’s why we are where we are.mike has been playing 21-22 girls but there are 5 that never see the field. In what looks like a good recruiting year we have 4 commits. The path thru more leads through those 5-6 bodies
My opinion anyway
