And the idea that players only came to Kentucky for Cal takes another one on the chin. I wanna see THOSE posters eat some crow and continue eating it.
Where does this put us in preseason rankings? Do we crack the Top 10?

You would have to think right? Mitchell was the missing piece we needed. For him to fall into our lap at this point has me absolutely pumped. Is it October yet? And I’m pumped for FB season.
Finally some Thorobreds again in the starting lineup. Can’t find anything not to like about this recruit and what he may bring. Plus we have a deep bench.

Some of our fans are so obsessed with cal. Its pathetic really.
So we can’t use the roster or players as an excuse now.
I still see rebounding and defense as a weakness, and though to me those are fatal flaws in terms of national championship hopes, this should still be a top 10 team. Double digit losses again and anything but a top 3 sec finish would be failure.

Given how tough the SEC is, I don't think outside of the top 3 in the conference should be considered a failure. Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Arkansas are all considered top 10 teams. However, I think a Sweet Sixteen will be a failure.
A 2 seed and a Final Four should be the measuring stick this year.
I think it’s a top 5 roster. I honestly do. Top 10 at worst. No way anyone can justify that there’s 10 better rosters than this one. If so, I’d love to hear it.
This legitimately puts them at pre-season SEC #2 behind the clear best team in the country next season.

Somehow he turned the Stokes fiasco into a net HUGE positive.
We're a better team than if we had Stokes and filled out the roster before Milan had decided to withdraw from the NBA draft and now with Mitchell's development.
One might say he backed into this, but he had the wisdom to hold onto this 15th roster spot and not take any bait takers.
If everyone that has said because of the transfer class, Louisville is a top 10 team, same with Tennessee, we're rated higher now. Will that convince those people to logically deduce Kentucky looks better on paper now in the preseason than both of them ? Include Texas in that group too. If those 3 teams are top ten, thern where should Kentucky be seen to fit in ?
I predict the consensus will fall around Florida and dUKe, illinois & UConn staying at the top 4. For me, UK is 5th, 6th at lowest (comparing them to everyone else). I dunno how anyone else could justify seeing this roster and saying they should be regarded less than that.
On paper, this is a top 5 - 8 team and clearly a #2 seed feel and look looking at the preseason roster (with legit shot at a #1 seed and being a title contender all season).
My feel that UK and Florida might end up tying for the regular season crown with a rubber match in the SECT final ..... that would be for a #1 seed on the line if that happens. Loser gets a #2 seed at worst.

I want Pope to have a pre season top 10 team. If you have that kind of talent and still underperform, well, you aren't the right guy for the job.
We should always have top 10 talent and if the true talent evaluators believe we have a top 10 roster, I would like to know.
Just about everyone had us ranked between 15 and 20, before yesterday. Adding an All SEC fifth year senior, that is also a go to offensive threat, from basically all 3 levels AND can handle the ball. One would have to believe that makes this a top 10 roster. JMO.

I’d say elite 8, but I’m hoping for a final 4 for sure. I’d like to see Pope can prove he can take a legit roster on a decent run first. If we have a good break, play well we could make it further for sure.
I like my crow with a little less salt than some folks are cooking it up with but I’m already working on seconds.
Elite 8 should be the absolute floor with this roster. Just stay healthy, for God’s sake.
I don't think that is crazy expectations, but final 8 and at least a 3 seed i would say is probably more fair. College basketball is going to be crazy good this year with all these tranfers and 5th year players. I do think this raised our floor and our ceiling is a natty now.
I agree, a 1-3 seed and elite 8 should be the floor for this roster. Anything less would be underperforming. We have a top 5 starting lineup and top 5 bench IMO, the only downside is there are 6 or so other stacked rosters whereas in a typical year there isn’t. Several teams with loaded teams this year, I think the odds of a team outside of the top 10 winning it all this year is slim to none with the talent jump from those teams to all the rest.

Hope coach Pope wins with this team, hope we do not have a bunch of injuries like we have had the last couple yrs.
Major difference in this team and other teams like Duke is the age and experience . Size is also a major plus with starting line up of 6'6, 6'6, 6'8, 6'9, and 7,0. That has to be the tallest starting five in the country including Florida. Pope now has 15 fouls at the center position with Kepnang to help control Chinilu. Mitchell and Mom can handle Condon and Hough and Ousmane and McBride add more options off the bench. Our guards combined for almost 40 points per game last year . Also now we have several options when we must have a basket late in the game and multiple players who can create their own shot. I think Mitchell is likely the leading scorer but no one would be surprised if it was Wilkins or Momcilovic. And then there are the players with potential including Cam and Hawthorne . Exciting season on the Horizon!
