Sterling 0 – Metamora 10: This game started at 10 at night! Metamora kicked a field goal half way through the first quarter and the game stayed that way until Metamora punched in the insurance with a minute left in the game. Outside of a couple drives, Sterling’s offense was a non-factor. Sterling’s D kept them in the game, turning away Metamora from inside the 5 yard line four times. Mini rant: Having watched Sterling slowly transform from a program that runs the ball on everyone, to one that throws 75% of the time has been…painful.

Moline 17 – Rochester 21: Sloppy game by both teams. Moline’s run game looked strong at times, but Rochester’s DLine would stiffen up and get stops. Penalties also played a huge factor in this game. In the end, a 4th and 1 stand by the Rockets on their own 30 sealed the deal.

Geneseo 16 – Assumption 13: Very defensive, hard hitting battle. I feel like these two should play every season. Assumption would get a pick six to take an early lead. Eventually though, Geneseo would do enough to wear down the home team from Iowa to take the close win.

Rock Island 7 – Kaneland 49: Even start to the game as it was 7-7 midway through the 2nd quarter, but two long scoring drives by Kaneland would make it 21-7 at the break. After that, it was all Kaneland as the Knights took the 2nd half kick to the house and Rocky couldn’t move the ball on offense. Kaneland would also land some big plays on offense to really start stacking the points in the 3rd.

Quincy 31 - O’Fallon 28: Ok, first off, im giving myself props for actually picking this score correctly. O’Fallon would take the opening kick off to the house and block Quincy’s first punt. After that, it would turn into a very good back and forth game. 14 all at the break and tied at 28 with just over a minute to go in the game. Quincy would drive down to the O’Fallon seven yard line and with 5 seconds left kick a field goal to win.

United Township 14 - Wheaton Academy 28: No eyes on this one. From what I could read on X, it was a decently even game with too many UT mistakes costing them the game.

Galesburg 21 – Dunlap 48: Unable to watch this one, but from what I could find, Dunlap handled business while Galesburg showed some improvement over last year.
