It would be disingenuous for me to say that I know for sure my way (and El Jefe’s) with handling play-by-play is the best way. But I do encourage folks to give it a try!

  1. Have a matchup post (e.g. “Levi Haines vs Dean Hamiti:”) ready to post as soon as the match starts, hit [Post reply], then immediately edit the post.
  2. Do your pbp. If you want, you can post and re-edit periodically for anyone who is trying to see live updates.
  3. Your pbp is in the right chronology on the board, saving the need to browse through pages of content or look for reference links, and everyone’s “wow amazing pin by Levi” posts fall right below your pbp, avoiding spoilers.
To my knowledge this method has been successful for many years without all the complaining.
There's never been full U17, U20 pbp on any of the PSU boards. There were some pbps of Penn State wrestlers but never really the entire tournaments as Slippery doesn't usually do free and I've never seen him do Greco. I am not a Penn State fan and put it here as it's an active board, there seems to be a demand, it's free to read without registering so my friends can see it and I was banned on Willie's board for getting into it with Bob Dole/Jimmy Cinnabon so it won't go there although Willie offered to lift my ban.

I am not fast. If people want to read pbp without spoilers, this is the easiest way as they can stay on that page. If they only want results, I'd suggest Basch as it's great for instantaneous results and multiple people have linked to it. The people who are watching live don't need pbp and can say what they want when they want with no worries about streaming lag making a spoiler plus it's much easier for me to join the discussion since it's not a separate thread. I missed a penalty point and someone answered what I missed for example.

It will take everyone a little while to get used to but most of the main free people seem to like it. When folk/Penn State rolls around I won't be doing pbp unless called upon in an emergency so it can be done anyway anyone wants it.

I am grateful you are doing it! I know all too well how much work it is.

I’m a little slow myself: are you saying speed is the reason my suggested method doesn’t work for you? If so, can you clarify for me how? I’m just curious because I am not seeing speed as a limiting factor for creating the post as the match gets set to start.

Thanks again for doing it though!

It works great when there's a gap between matches to set up the next one.

That doesn't work as well when they are rapid fire when you are as slow as I am especially for international matches as it takes me forever to get the correct spelling or even a close facsimile. Today was fairly lucky as there was a gap between every match. That doesn't happen very regularly.

I really think the international community was caught flatfooted with the rise of American wrestling in the U groups. Folk style has definitely had an impact on bottom/mat wrestling. This group of kids wrestling right now are lights out.

He was trailing in a few matches this tournament and found away . The belly to belly throw for the win was awesome. Watch his 1/4 against Russia

Watch 92 kg 1/4 Final - Sandro Kurashvili, Georgia vs Artur Togoev, Russia on FloWrestling.
I have a flo account and it's blocked behind the paywall

From a coaching perspective, it’s really difficult to get used to not coaching the kids you’ve developed for years. You have to put faith in the guys/gals coaching them now and bite your tongue when watching them compete. That’s easy to do when you’re handing them over to Cael, but I digress. KD strikes me as the kind of guy who is secure in the relationships he’s built with kids like PJ and Jayden so I wouldn’t imagine there’s too much in the way of ego-driven involvement
KD was sitting a few rows behind me in Nashville last year. He definitely does not bite his tongue when watching them compete. He was yelling out more instructions from the stands than Cael and company were doing from mat side.

Nice technique by Bo here to use his head position on the mat to avoid the roll. On an unrelated note, I have seen some beautiful arm spins this tournament, but none that I can remember from our wrestlers. I wonder why that is?
