The article is just bizarre to read. The case is from Baton Rouge, and it seems most of the players would suit up for LSU.
There will be a hearing on the injunction on August 31, the Monday after Week 0. Hopefully, a ruling before Week 1.
I want to say "I'm out; I can't watch a sport that is this torn apart." But I'm not. I'm going to watch this train wreck and see what rises from the rubble.
On the one hand, I do not think the NCAA rule results in an antitrust violation, or a breach of the duties of good faith and fair dealing. I'm not even sure a guy who has signed an NFL contract can claim "irreperable harm."
OTOH, if a court rules against the NCAA on liability, then its very easy for these athletes to claim they would not have signed pro contracts if they knew they had another college year.
This was all created by the NCAA and its member schools feasting on nearly free labor for decades, so I certainly don't feel sorry for them.
