That was some pure craziness! I was just about to come on here and say that Mastny just isn't strong enough for the Russian. Then, Mastny just started turning him at will without much resistance from Togoev. From 1-10 to 22-10 in an instant!
That is big for the team race also as team USA led Russia by three points at the start of this round.

Mastny gets Togoev. Togoev is a monster who inexplicably gassed badly in the first minute in his loss. He never had tank issued in the past. Could be a quick 10-0 Togoev or could be enough cold spray to effect the climate in Central Europe.

Robideau gets a Georgian who was 5th at U20 Euros

James gets Vokal who went one and done at U17 Euros

Ross gets Jang KOR who took bronze at U20 Asians

Boyle gets returning bronze Dursonov in the 1/8
It’s funny how the first part of your Mastny prediction came within a hair of being true, then the second part took over.

Most of this group of USA U20's are high pace and aggressive, and it is consistently breaking their opponents.
It's incredible that these guys show up out of shape.

Re: Robideau - I get the hate, cuz it was absolutely a blown call - but man, you can see why he can stand toe to toe with PJ. Brawler with some freak strength and gas tank for days.

It's not just U20 where US wrestlers are coming in aggressive, in shape and with a great pace (for the most part), it's across all levels. I have a hunch that I know of a program that has helped to lead things in that direction. :)

Listen, the blown call was not on him. What is he going to do, tell the refs they got it wrong and concede the win to P.J. Robideau is the real deal, no question about it.

WTF happened to Togoev?!?! That was crazy. He should be ashamed coming to a world championship tournament in that kind of shape
There has to be something there whether illness, geopolitical, recovery... There's no way to get to that level of skill as he couldn't train at all with that current tank. It wasn't that he didn't defend the guts well, it's that he didn't defend the TD at all. Whether Mastny got all the turns he needed was irrelevant. Mastny would have taken him down at will in the 2nd if it would have gotten that far.

Mat B is running slow today. Very few quick finishes to even out the long matches.

And my Mat A isn't working again. It's the price I pay for my way of watching. They must think A is over as B and C have been used for the second session. It worked until yesterday.
