Correct, hoping is not a strategy. But neither is obsessively camping out on another team‘s board lobbing the same lame troll regurgitations in hopes of some reach arounds from other cockeye miscreants, or perhaps from a few of the ever growing list of beta Husker posers.

Iowa is nothing more than Missouri, which means they are the equivalent of Northern Arkansas.

Get f@cked (although that‘s highly unlikely)

When someone starts a thread naming another school, what do you idiots expect will happen?

Just because you don't have any reasonable responses isn't my fault.

Beautiful “strategy” by potato head, hiring new coaches EVERY offseason 😂
Which was demanded by the fans or anybody with a brain watching.

The problem wasn’t that he replaced coaches. The problem is he hired them in the first place. The problem is he doesn’t demand excellence from his coaching staff. The problem is he only reacts to external pressure and creates no inner pressure on himself to improve the state of team as long as everybody is comfortable.

It’s a mystery along the same lines as why Iowa has never won a championship? Iowa is happy with 8 wins each season. Hot nebraska women who move to Iowa stay hot but hot Iowa women who move ….. oops sorry hot Iowa women don’t exist
Lame post…it must be sad being a husker fan. 😢

He’s still butthurt that Iowa struck out in the recruitment of Brix.
lol…”struck out” is what the recruitment of Brix looks like. It must hurt that Iowa o-lineman Kade Pieper from Norfolk, NE is an all Big 10 performer and likely another All American.

Pieper is another reason we fired our O line coach. At least Rhule didn’t have to be forced to fire his OC son. We’ve been a mess but have made proactive changes. What’s Iowa’s excuse.

Geep might be a fantastic coach but he'll only be as good as Rhule lets him be. Just when you think we might have turned the corner, you hear Gotulla is penciled in as starter and when they talk about him "doing everything we ask of him... working hard... setting an example"
never "the dude is extremely talented" cause he's not, not for this level.

Talent trumps hard work in sports at this level. Gunner was awful last year. Sure I've heard the excuses, "he was battling injuries" well why the hell is he playing then? Or Dylan held on to the ball too long.

Gunner grades fantastic on run blocking, I'll give him that. But his pass blocking is awful. EJ made a lot of our o-lineman look good. When you have a back who can adjust his tempo like EJ could, knowing when to be patient and knowing when to go fast, that's a lineman's best friend. Or taking the right angels. Something Our current roster of RBs have yet to show

gunner is awful at pass blocking and I don't see how you can really know if he's developed at it this fall when Qbs don't get hit in practice. AC has been a turnover machine at QB, place him with a tackle who can't pass block, things are going to get messy IMO

One thing I learned in the military and in battle, your only as good as your weakest link.

maybe Geep will be able to scheme to help. I don't know. I'd rather just have great talent

They paid a dude to come to Nebraska to start and Geep said as much. If Gunner is getting the nod from Geep it’s because he’s earning it IMO

Sir…Iowa fans know that Brix is from Iowa. 🙄
So you're on the Husker Board looking for any mention of players from Iowa...that play for Nebraska...on the Husker forum.

Its not a big deal. People go to other forums. You guys acting like you stumbled onto the thread purely out of concern for the Hawkeyes is...weird.

I have to assume that Geep is calling the shots on the 2-deep, because anything else would be dysfunctional. And if Geep is calling the shots, he is doing it with fresh eyes. He doesn't care what Donnie thought or did. He also isn’t hung up on returning players, good or bad. It’s possible one or two non-performers or under-performers will respond to something they haven’t had: decent coaching.

Gee it’s is almost like Iowa has had the same coach for almost 30 years. That kind of helps you develop guys rather than changing coaches every few years. Iowa did win a share of the conference title 22 years ago so props for that.

Also, if Rhule meddles with geep, micro manages or over rules geep, I could see geep saying screw it I'm outta here after this year. He's a good coach and I'm sure they had the "talk" before geep signed the contract.

I agree with spinner you're only as good as your weakest link. Good coaches can figure out how to handle and scheme that. So will they defense unfortunately. That's the chess game and why they play the game

What's your definition of "earning it"? Is it putting the five most talented guys on the field, or giving the job to the kids who do everything right in practice? Because those two things are not the same. And it's contingent on the coach which one is "earning it"

We went through this exact same song and dance last year with Pritchett vs. Gottula. It was obvious to anyone watching that Pritchett was the far superior talent.

Coaches fall in love with Gottula because he’s consistent. He rarely makes assignment mistakes, but he simply lacks the raw, gifted athleticism of a Pritchett or a Tree Babalade. In Big Ten football, you can execute your assignment with textbook technique and still get physically dominated because you lack elite traits.

Rhule still hasn't proven he lets his assistants coach without micromanaging the final call. He’s standing over them pointing at technique and drill work, praising a guy for taking the "right" step even if he’s a half-second too slow because technique is what he can coach.

Meanwhile, he overlooks the guy who might have an occasional scheme breakdown, but possesses uncoachable physical gifts.

It plays directly into Rhule’s ego. When Gottula plays, Rhule can point to him and say, "Look at the coaching." When a guy like Pritchett plays, his natural gifts cover up mistakes, but he has the kind of raw ceiling you can't teach.

And no, Rhule gets zero blind credit for "turning a new leaf." Second chances are earned, not given. Rhule is in the dog house for most fans for a reason. He stays in the dog house until he proves he can sleep in the house without pissing every where

Geep doesn’t seem to mess around - so I would say earning the starting role is being better than and giving us the best chance to win vs the next guy.

Yeah, dysfunctional is why Matt Rhule is 77-89 overall as a head coach. Do you think a guy with an 77-89 over all record is operating a functional system?

Cool, Geep doesn't have full power. He works under Rhule. I don't mess around at my job either but I have a boss and have to do what the boss wants. Welcome to reality

we've seen this time and time again under Matt. Act like we haven't

By every account Geep has completely changed how our O line operates to what he coached at GT.

So if Gunner wins the job it’s because he’s not better than Tree? Is that your take?

I totally agree with you that Kirk Ferentz shouldn’t have promoted his son Brian Ferentz from o-line coach to offensive coordinator. Thankfully, when Iowa’s new AD Beth Goetz started, one of her first moves was to have Brian fired.

Probably no moreso than Larry Station playing linebacker for Iowa likely bugged you. Thankfully, Iowa has gotten many of the Nebraska players in recent years that they have wanted. However, the overall quality/depth of really good Nebraska high school football players has noticeably declined in recent years.

Now that the current staff is meddling in Nebraska high school football, I unfortunately expect this decline to accelerate

A true shame
