Let's look at his credentials:
1. He's born and name Doris because the midwife at his birth was convinced he would be a girl before being born. Sounds like a Johnny Cash song....
2. Is born in Waco, Texas a state that practices segregation and has Jim Crow laws that discriminate against him. Yet, he goes to fight for freedom and defend the USA. Mind you this is before the US was in the war so he wasn't drafted. He volunteered.
3. He joins the Navy, an organization that is so discriminatory that he can only be a mess cook and can't serve any combat role.
4. Pearl Harbor happens and the guy drags wounded men to safety.
5. In the middle of combat, he mans an antiaircraft 50 cal gun which he was never trained on, and is credited with downing two Japanese planes.
6. When the abandon ship order is given, he was one of the last three men to leave. Still gives aid to wounded and help other sailors.
7. Earns the Navy Cross and is pinned by Admiral Nimitz himself.
8. Get nominated for the Medal of Honor but is blocked by a racist Secretary of the Navy.
9 Becomes the face of recruiting posters and war bonds.
10. Dies in combat when his ship is torpedoed at the age of 24.

Go **** yourself and your "peak DEI bs." Doris Miller story is about the most ******* WWII American war hero story I've heard of.
But the MAGA mind can't get comprehend someone of color legitimately being a war hero. So they must scream DEI.

MAGA: Naming the ship the Doris Miller, for a black Navy Cross recipient, doesn’t scare people and is peak DEI. Must reverse decision.

Also MAGA: We must go back to the original military base names - you know, the ones that were originally named for Confederate traitors.

Eat me. Drink me.

Yeah, being against this is wild. Doris Miller is a true American hero and there is ZERO valid reason to be against this.

He didn’t win the Medal of Honor! Others have that don’t have ships named after them. Why was he picked over them? I will give you one guess.
Did you miss that the secretary of the Navy was racist. "Miller received the Navy Cross from Admiral Chester Nimitz on May 27, 1942, but many sailors and naval officers believed that Miller's heroism deserved a Medal of Honor.[5] Miller was nominated for a Medal of Honor by a congressman from Michigan and a senator from New York, and the black press enthusiastically campaigned for Miller to receive this decoration. Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox, who opposed black sailors serving the United States in any combat role, recommended against Miller receiving the Medal of Honor."

Trump deserves to have a ship named after him and it makes sense to rename the USS America (CV-66) after trump.

You are, quite literally, feeding the troll exactly what it loves and it is laughing its *** off. The only thing it craves is attention. I do not know why so many feel compelled to comply.

The Doris Miller is named after a black sailor who bravely fended off Japanese planes during their attack on Pearl Harbor. The ship has been constructed, but is years away from being operational as it awaits being fitted out and sea trials.
I anticipate being told I have TDS for even mentioning this. Nobody has done more for the Navy than Donald Trump.
https://www.mediaite.com/media/news...black-hero-and-naming-it-after-trump-instead/

Although very deserving of being the Doris Miller I am thinking the floating airports are carrying the names of Presidents.

I say Trump gets the aircraft carrier and Doris Miller sounds like a destroyer.

Just my 2 cents
