I can't tell who is in Seidel's corner.

Clock point for Seidel 1-0. Seidel tries underhook to single but no luck Seidel commits to a single but ends in nothing 1-0 Seidel at the break

2nd

Seidel bleeding somewhere postpones the period. Giving Kaz an extra lunger as a 40 second mat wipe. Seidel spins on the edge and gets a step out. 2-0. Kaz single Seidel whizzer and Seidel underhook spins on the edge for TD. 4-0 and more blood time now a KAZ challenge. challenge lost 5-0 Seidel. Kaz warned for face slaps again. Seidel feignts and reaches controlling the match constantly changing levels is preventing any Kaz offense. Seidel go behind TD 7-0 Seidel tries a late duck and wins Gold 7-0

Sinclair on quick single as Russia goes with the chokehold defense. Step out and penalty 5-4 Sinclair. Snatch single attempt to nothing. This play by plsy fight is honestly the most ridiculous thing I have seen on this board ever and that says a lot lol. Either post PBP in the thread as the match occurs or don't post pbp. Nobody wants to scroll back several pages to find the pbp. So what if people post spoilers. Most of us am sure are at work and just want to know if our guys won.
So don't scroll, save an initial bookmark and update it as PBP progresses. Problem solved.

bonus pbp 61kg Bronze on Seidel side

Mendoza Mexico/California/Michigan recruit vs Khateri Iran.

Mendoza starts with taps. Drops to a knee at times. Iran arm drag to standing go behind. TD on the edge. 2-0 Iran TD Iran with one turn off Mendoza shot. 6-0. Mendoza duck to nothing. Mendoza chasing a fleeing Iranian. Iran tries go behind but Mendoza just as quick. 6-0 Iran at break

2nd

Mendoza taps from distance to a low single for TD. 6-2. Iran wanting cold spray with 2:28 left. Forgets what hurts and points to different spot for spray. Mendoza with a 4 pointer off a Iran shot to lead 6-6 Iran challenges. Win or lose he gets a lunger. Challenge lost 7-6 Mendoza. Iran low single and Mendoza does a fold dive under to give up 2. 8-7 Iran. Iran exposure out of waterfall 10-7 Iran. Mendoza taking sloppy shots now leads to TD 12-7 Iran. Iran front headlock to eat time. Mendoza mutlple shots but nothing 12-7 Iran wins.

The match turned when Mendoza dove under the Iran single for no reason other than folk muscle memory. Got sloppy trying to force things after going down.

Watched replay of Bassett’s matches. Just wow! Not that upset we didn’t get him, but pettily glad Hawks didn’t either. If he wrestles that relentlessly in NCAA folk, he’ll be nothing but a joy to watch. Seems not only to have Mesenbrink’s motor, but even another gear, if possible and not too blasphemous. I hear a lot about his social media, but, meh. It’s the world we live in, and he’s talented and hardworking enough to exploit it. Not so religious myself, but if all these young athletes truly believe their effort glorifies God, good for them. Will likely root for this earnest, likable kid against all non-Lions.

You might have to hold back cheering for him in another year or two.

If I were a betting man, which I am not, I would wager $100 he will not stay at VT for 5 years. He will chase both the limelight and more money, guaranteed. He's already talking that he would like to wrestle with Jax.

He would slide in nicely in our lineup next year, but I think if he bails, our chances are probably less than 50%.
For all the times you keep saying some flavor of "Bassett's not staying at VT" ...

After Bassett decommitted from Iowa, he pursued OKST and PSU. If he really wanted to wrestle with Jax, why didn't he choose OKST? Probably for the same reason he didn't choose PSU -- the coaches made that decision for him. Which was discussed plenty at the time he committed to VT.

Process improvement suggestion:

Provide link to labeled first PBP of a new session in lieu of thread's page number.

Reason: DIsplayed page count differs bassd on number of ignored posters.

The two free finals to test. let me know if it works

Okazawa is gassing badly in the first period and Kaz challenges with 10 seconds left in the period with DJ Slow at the controls. Be happy down 3-0 at the break and don't give Japan a 5 minute lunger. So they lost the challenge (incorrectly) and are now down 5-0 as the score makes no sense.

I'm really happy for Seidel. You could tell how much that win meant to him. In a different world and time, he could be a contender to be a 4-timer. I'll be honest, I didn't expect him to immediately succeed at the level he has since graduating high school. He's phenomenal.

Was that it, a simple decision, “we don’t want him?”
I wouldn't call it that.

There was an offer out there at one time, but when it came time for the re-recruiting (and the likely back-and-forth stuff), the staff just basically stopped recruiting him. At least that's what I heard.

You've heard it posted here before - they want guys who want to be here, those are the guys that have success. It's not some BS, and that's the attitude. It will likely result in Googles being very disappointed more than a few more times in the future and posting a screed examining the staff's decision making. Again.
