Well, you're partially right. When I was at NSA-T, I was assigned to the TF charged with countering Russian election interference...can't really say more than that. So Russian interference was/is 100% real (along with many other foreign actors). The bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee confirmed the Russian operation, while Mueller failed establish a criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia.
I just don't ever want people thinking Russia is just some non player. Russia's GRU and FSB literally spend their entire lives dedicated to malign influence. Back on our home board I had several threads with OSINT reporting on it. THe Rand Corp does a really great job of this.

I guess while I'm thinking about it, I'll take it a bit further to say I think most people don't fully realize just how much foreign malign influence is being used to manipulate the American populace. Russia and other foreign actors spend a great deal of resources to make Americans distrust each other, amplify existing divisions and push people further into opposing camps.
For example, they love to use fake or clone social-media profiles, bots, paid influencers and fake news sites to infiltrate existing FB accounts just so they can make their bs messaging look like it's coming organically from Americans you already know or trust. How many times have you seen your crazy uncle post, "Don't accept any new friend request from me. I've been hacked!" ...but once they're in they can repeatedly push inflammatory memes, fake news stories and all kinds of divisive narratives. Then those narratives get pushed around the interzweb by real Americans.
It's unreal how much bs people lap up because they're being played by their own biases. Weaponized confirmation bias will be our country's downfall IMO.
