Mississippi JUCO football rosters

It is extremely frustrating how close to the vest these Mississippi JUCO coaches play their rosters. We are a week out from opening day, and none of the JUCOs in the state have a published roster. I had a friend who was an SID at a JUCO in the state and told me how top secret these coaches keep their rosters.

I honestly don't know the reason behind it, but it's probably an afterthought type of thing. Some of the programs may also want you to forget they even have a football team LOL.

Yes, that was a one time thing for Pavia.

However, that whole deal has just been forgotten about, because the players going to JUCO nowadays are generally not D1 athletes. So while they can still play 5 years, they top out in D2 or something, and there's no NIL, so who really cares. JUCO sports has really been relegated in the past 5 years, it's essentially where travel ballers go to finish out their dreams and be able to say they played college ball.

Shame too, it's a big advantage MSU used to have. So very typical. And it doesn't surprise to hear Heavy Lebby talk about "owning the MS JUCO system", yeah okay buddy. We might should take a player or 2 per year there, maybe? We're better off letting them transfer to ULM or something, and then grabbing them for their final 2 years if they do well there.

I think our high schools going to a ten-point grading system has gotten guy eligible that could not in the pass. There were a lot of SEC talent playing JUCO football in the Miss Juco ranks before that time. Back when I was in high school a grade of 69 was a "F" and a 90 was a "B"

Yeah all that old era stuff has gone right out the window. It's a completely different time from around 2005/2006 when I really started following crootin. Evolution I guess. I mean do you remember all the Prop-48 shlt? Then that partial qualifier type thing that made Deandre Brown go to USM over Ole Miss/MSU. Crazy.

Even the way they accept the ACT score. When I came out of high school your combine score was your score. If you took it again that was your score, but you did get to use the higher of the two score. Now I believe they can mix and match the different sections in different test to get the score they need. I might be wrong on that, just what I have heard.

Mississippi JUCO isn’t what it used to be 20 years ago as far as quality of players. One exception may be baseball players, there are some talented players in the JUCO system due to the NCAA baseball roster deductions.

It's true, they now get a Super Score which is the best scores from each section from all the times they have taken it. I would love to know what my super score would have been back when I took it.

You are correct. When my daughter took it and told me that and I was like wait… what? I would have killed it had that been the case.

While I agree it’s not as stacked as before, most teams have a handful of players that are D-1.
Bama got a commit at WR this week from MGCCC
Northeast has 2 really good DL, 1 is committed to Tennessee already.
ECCC- has a lineman and WR committed to D-1 schools.

So MS Juco does have some talent that could help MSU.

Those guys are generally placed and never really on the market.

Most JUCO guys are G6 at best.

This doesnt seem to be terrible.
It shows a student can attain the high levels in each category.
Fundamentally speaking, why does it matter if the student showed that ability in every category at the same test?...it doesn't matter, to be clear.

- schools that accept superscores have adjusted their offerings to account for the obviously higher total. So it's largely offset.

- many schools don't accept a superscore.


Doesn't seem like something worth turning into a 'in my day...' or a 'kids these days are so soft because...' type of idea.
