Ahhh yes the classic and nebulous “team rules” reason
Sometimes it is better not knowing the details for the player's sake.

I’m shocked there is any such thing as “team rules” in this new college football world. I seem to recall him being a top recruit …with size that’s hard to find
Not saying this is the case with this player, but are you suggesting a team should keep a player who is disruptive to the locker room and the team?

He had an unapproved brand of eggs for breakfast. On a positive note, Schiano finally isn’t micromanaging anymore. He means it this time.

Maybe he spoke to the media.

do we get NIL back. Seems like a good way to move on if you are a player stuck with a NIL deal.

Well, he was a significant recruit. And his size is very impressive.
But from what I've heard he wasn't gonna make the two-deep going into his second season with Rutgers....a team with a well below average pass rush last season.

But if he had gotten arrested…god forbid sexually assaulted someone…stole merchandise from a store or got stuck in a drug ring like the Penn State kids did, that would’ve been all over the news. Why are the mythical team rules somehow protected…I don’t follow. Did he call GS an idiot and a crappy coach…did he intimate GS’s wife was a HO? Did he come to practice in drag?

What the heck is wrong with you? Whatever the offense, the conduct contract the players sign when they join the team almost certainly indicated that the offense would result in being kicked off the team. That’s all that matters. You dont make exceptions or turn the other way.

Not necessarily PS….Shelby doubts if the same action by a starter would have had the same result. Treat ‘em fair, not equal. The way of the world.

I doubt it. He was a pretty highly regarded recruit. If this was a situation where the door could be left open in any way, it would’ve been announced as an indefinite suspension.

I know this player had a 4 star rating out of HS and was one of our top HS recruits. Was he expected to be on the 2 deep this season? Or more likely an impact player in future seasons?
Close to three deep, but had a high ceiling and potential for more come 2027 and beyond.

At least Rutgers is not alone with players violating "Team Rules"

Unless it’s something that makes the news (like the paintball gun thing with Max Melton) specifics are rarely announced publicly. Again, if the player conduct code did not outright state that what was done would result in removal from the team, this would’ve been announced as an indefinite suspension. Of course, conduct terms are different now with NIL because they have to protect the school from paying for players who are suspended for discipline reasons. It’s possible the rules are stricter now. Whatever it is, Greg has always been consistent about applying them.

Well, DUH! Those are public events involving law enforcement, so of course the details would have been known and public.

Why are the mythical team rules somehow protected…I don’t follow.

Because it's private to the team. If you get fired by a company, is the company supposed to publicly list the reasons you were fired?

Nope, what he did definitely constituted him being dismissed.
Don't know if this is the case here, but theft in a locker room could be one reason to definitely dismiss a player. That breaks the first two tenets of FTC - Family and Trust.

Forget FTC. It's pro sports. On field performance is all that matters. Forget that touchy feely stuff, graduation rates, none of it matters. Wins and loses. That's it. These guys are getting paid to perform on the field.

I don't care enough to find out what he did but unless laws were broken, it shouldn't matter. He wasn't arrested, so...
