Kyle, Would JJ be interested in adding one more piece to the team?

Mia Nicastro, a power forward from Western Illinois has put herself in the 5 in 5 pool and is available. She is a sturdy 6'2" and averaged 24.1 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game. Obviously, she would not be an expensive addition and she would only take a roster spot for one year? It would bolster the 4 spot on the team. OR, would an addition disrupt the harmony of the team. I look at South Carolina, LSU, Texas, North Carolina and they are never fearful of disrupting the existing team. For example, South Carolina isn't even recruiting in state athlete, Khalia Hartwell, 6'5" because there are 6 players on S. Carolina who are already vying for that position. Just curious if Iowa would entertain the idea of adding one more. Thanks Kyle.

I would be shocked beyond belief if they added someone.

It’s one thing to say “we need to add in the portal to bolster the roster”. It’s a complete other thing to go through the full summer of practices and say “we still don’t think we’re good enough at this position” and add more.

Regarding Nicastro, Woliczko and Houston showed that they will be plenty capable.

I agree adding a portal player now would be highly unusual. I also agree that Woliczko and Houston are unquestionably capable and key players this season.

Both those players have undergone major knee surgeries. Fingers crossed they stay healthy. Looking forward to see them compete.

Jan probably looks at Faison as a potential depth piece at that position as well should the need arise. She has decent size at 6'1" and a year of college experience under her belt. No idea what Stromdahl brings coming in.

There are a couple of clips of Jocelyn F playing defense. She is long and athletic. She plays with an attitude Iowa fans are going to like her

I hope so. If so, Iowa absolutely cleaned up net-wise in the portal this year given who they lost and who they added. In Dani and Whiting they are already way ahead vs what they lost. If Faison becomes a solid contributor, that's just gravy.
