Cocaine's for horses, not for men
They tell me it'll kill me but they don't say when
Cocaine run all 'round my brain
Yeah baby, come here quick
This old cocaine 'bout to make me sick
Cocaine run all 'round my brain

Slow news cycle my butt, the main media has plenty to sink their teeth into but is ignoring the important issues in America today:
Policy changes, program cuts, and raw abuses of power that have damaged America’s middle class, stripped away rights, gutted essential services, and endangered the vulnerable — here at home and across the globe.

Strategy's that hurt seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, workers, farmers, children, small business owners, and entire communities devastated by disaster, poverty, and neglect. Internationally, actions that weaken America’s moral standing, worsen climate change, and leave millions without food, medicine, or hope.
Agreed. The problem is the mainstream media is completely compromised. Owned lock stock and barrel by the same people that control the government.

I was being facetious. I was there when the shooting happened. My point was that bad sh*t happens all the time and it happens everywhere. This isn’t a sign of some Penn State apocalypse.

I guess I’m just tired of reading the “I’m ashamed to be a Penn Stater” shtick in here every day in every thread. It’s usually just whining about how the football team is ruining their life with poor recruiting and not enough NIL. Now a bunch of people get arrested and many lives could be ruined yet posters are complaining about feeling embarrassed like they’re somehow the victim because they’re Penn State football fans.

I see your point, but to me, seeing Penn State memed left and right again (some with throwback Sandusky references) is not enjoyable. I don’t feel like a “victim” and I’m by no means embarrassed to be a Penn Stater, but I sure as he|| don’t like it.

As for the lives ruined… sure, I’ll wait for the legal process to play out, but it’s hard to imagine they didn’t bring this on themselves.

The local news in Harrisburg referred to this situation as 'the Penn State cocaine scandal' yesterday. So, the university was selling cocaine?

WTF is wrong with our media?
Nothing is wrong with our media...it is the Penn State cocaine scandal.

If it happened in Erie and it was called the Erie cocaine scandal, it wouldn't mean that the city of Erie was selling the cocaine. It's a major story coming out of students (or former students) at Penn State.

If it happened in erie(It has) it would be a non story and would not be called the Erie anything.

Shawn Jones 34, Erie was arrested a few months ago trafficking a kilo.

Introducing pledges into the crimes made it a lock to be the "Penn State" story.

May no act of ours bring shame.

Well, that ship has sailed.

Shapeless in the hands of fate.

Yeah, shapeless in the hands of a state penitentiary.

Just found out the names of two of the kids, the ones from Maryland. I have friends who are friends of each of their families. Both kids families have lots of $$, live in million dollar homes, had no need to do any of this from a money perspective.
cocaine habits are expensive, selling is one way to meet that cost......

On the bright side when they are 45 years old, finally out of prison and interviewing for a job to clean bathrooms somewhere for minimum wage they will at least have a good answer to the interview question...

What was the biggest mistake you made and why?

Nonsense.

The only reason to include the university in this is to help sensationalize it. People and groups of people are arrested daily for selling cocaine, they aren't associated with some local institution that had nothing at all to do with the crimes.

While you might not want to acknowledge it, the association with the fraternities/Penn State is what makes the story. Someone getting busted for selling coke in Camden/Philly/Harrisburg to junkies is a footnote that happens every day. Someone at a major university using their fraternity pledges to cut up and distribute the coke to other students is a major story.

If an exec at KPMG got busted for running a coke ring and using junior associates to cut up and distribute the coke as part of their training, it would also be a major story and likely be referred to as the "KPMG Coke Scandal", even if KPMG themselves isn't selling the coke. Maybe you'd think that KPMG story is the same as a drug dealer in Strawberry Mansion using street thugs to sell coke, but most would be much more drawn to the KPMG story.
