Most of us that don't have 1A teams tend to think that 1A football has been diluted by prep and charter schools, or by the fact that there really aren't many schools in that division. Nothing shows the downhill trajectory more than what I just saw. Now, I don't know where this "poll" actually came from, but it has NorthEast Carolina Prep as a top 5 1A school. What's wrong with that, you ask? Well, NECP is playing its first season of football since 2018! They have not had a team in 8 years, and even then, they've only played 4 seasons total. How.... How can a essentially first year program be ranked ahead of a Robbinsville, or anybody at all, without playing a single game? What in the world is going on in 1A? I just have to tell myself that it's just a poll. But my goodness.
