i would normally agree with history and precedent but the new 5 for 5 changes that... the clock is ticking from the time they walk in the door now... so wrestlers are gonna get in wherever they can fit in and that is a tight window in nearly every weight class as PSUIs there much history in the Sanderson era of guys going down in weight? I am not aware of any.
Agreed that could be a factor... caloric reduction and dehydration could negatively impact concussion recovery time. But I think it has been nearly six months since his concussion and to move from 57 to 49 is not a huge drop. I dont know what he walks around at and how much he may even cut to get to 57 .... but he is not the tallest... and 6 months may not be out of the question even with the concussion recovery?Kasak's injury history, specifically concussions does not seem to lend this as the path.
Just ask Zain. You can't recover from concussions AND cut weight. I would bet someone with a history of them is even more likely prone to them.

that is big newsLikely already posted, but for what it is worth, Levi is in the student directory.
The 10th should make a decision this week on the stay the NCAA filed in the Colorado case. An Ohio judge granted one in the Ohio case but those athletes are still eligible because of the Colorado ruling but judge Sweeneythat is big news
Was he ever removed from the student directory?Likely already posted, but for what it is worth, Levi is in the student directory.
Bingo! Was he ever removed from the student directory?

no doubt... now we dont know the degree of the concussion either and a lot of unknows.... IDK I wouldnt rule anything out with 5 for 5 in playWhile he may be fully "recovered" - data suggests it's closer to 1 year before your truly recovered. And any time less than that, you're at a higher risk for another concussion. So combine that with cutting weight, and I just don't see how this works out well for Kasak.

What are you talking about? They have made two decisions now. This stuff is so ridiculous..just make a decision already. The one's who really got screwed was Cenzo and Hall who only got 3 yrs. Or Kolodzik who came off redshirt late to then lose the next yr
Brantt on 247 alluded a while ago that Levi is joining a lawsuit of some kind for a 5th year (before the blanket ruling)
To be honest, the NCAAs has been on the losing end of these typically. We have guys who have signed NFL contracts playing again.
Or he goes 157 regardless. And Henckel/Cunningham/James battle for 174The guy who is getting jerked around with this in addition to Levi is probably PJ. If he has to go 174 he should already be well into an accent plan to put on 'good' weight. Most 174 lbers, walk around in the mid 180s if not higher. A big part of PJs game is sheer power, that won't be as easy without some serious adjustment period if he is a 10 lb undersized guy up two weights.
If Levi returns, the concensus says PJ has to go 157 which in and of itself means a decent plan and arguably a difficult cut all year.
The NCAA fu$ks up everything it touches. I have little doubt, the wrestlers will win this one but for crying out loud it needs to be finalized in the month of August.
In the meantime, I suspect PJ has to assume he needs to stay ready for 157 given that is the more difficult target. Every day this continues leaves him in the lurch.
that feels like the only option at this point. you can't put on good weight this fast, you prepare for something like this, 2 weight class jump, for an entire offseason at least. unless penn state has always been less confident Levi would actually get his 5th year so PJ has been preparing for 74 this whole timeOr he goes 157 regardless. And Henckel/Cunningham/James battle for 174
You know you have good problems when the winner of that trio might be your weakest lineup spot. Either that or heavy.Or he goes 157 regardless. And Henckel/Cunningham/James battle for 174
Unfortunately, I think the decision’s impact on wrestling is the least of the NCAA’s concerns. The guy who is getting jerked around with this in addition to Levi is probably PJ.
