It's not sweet!

Our neighborhood BBQ joint makes about seven different home made sauces and their Hot and Devil's Sauce are my favorites. They also do a 'white' BBQ sauce which is also excellent. I also really love a good Carolina mustard-based sauce but family doesn't like it as much so at home, I use more traditional sauces.

Somehow, it seems a tad inauthentic for the best BBQ sauces to come from an upscale hamlet like Fox Chapel or Sewickley. But good BBQ is good BBQ, I suppose. Out here in the East Bay, at least two famous Oakland BBQ joints have picked up stakes and moved out to Lamorinda (collective name for Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda) because they tired of the crime and its effect on their business.

Also here in Va I’m sorta partial to mustard based sauces, like that of the blue ridge pig in nellysford (down the mountain from wintergreen).

also, while I’m really not that big a fan of Texas bbq, this is a helluva song, which I got to hear live (albeit without the pedal steel) last weekend.

I like pretty much every style of BBQ I've had (not sure about the White sauce though).
If I use bottled my go to is Stubbs.

Look for cane sugar or molasses in the bottled stuff. Not high fructose corn syrup. You'll pay more, but it's worth it.
