Curious about overall numbers and talent pool for the incoming class of 2030. This goes for all CCL schools across the various divisions. I’ve always been a huge fan of freshman football but haven’t been plugged in this year so am not sure what to expect from MC or any of the other schools.

I recall a poster stating that Brother Rice’s incoming Frosh class was the best he’s seen, so I’ll be interested to hear how good they actually are.

Yeah, the only thing I am aware of as far as any of the schools incoming freshman teams go, is that Rice has a potential future 5 star QB that already has power 2 offers

Dowling part 4, Brody Dowling, will be MC's Freshman QB. They were never able to find a week 1 game which is too bad....ESL only has a Varsity and JV team, MC Sophomores are playing the JV team at Bloomington Catholic HS at 2:00 pm Saturday so both teams can head to ISU after.

Not Class of 2030, but was told Providence cancelled their Sophomore season, reasons unknown to me but has to be numbers....but this just came down last week.

Providence only has 75 kids in their entire football program. Across, well 2 levels now.

Rita freshman team is north of 60 for the first time in a long time.

60, wow, good for Rita.
I know St. Francis has 32(+/- a few) and the word is very strong. SF does varsity and Jv.

Filling lower level schedules is becoming increasingly difficult. I know JCA currently only has 7 Frosh games scheduled. Marian Catholic and IC don't have Freshmen teams. They were able to get Bolingbrook in Week 2 to replace SHG, who is not bringing up lower level teams for the Week 2 game.

Marist has 76 I'm told which is huge. MC has 65 which most teams would love to have 65 Freshman but for MC that's low. I think last year they had close to 90 which was 1990's type freshman numbers but I surprised at the lower number this year.

No MC, BR, or Marist this year so depending how LA is they should have a real good year. Naz never has strong Freshman teams

Most of the impact players are currently at other schools.
It insane the football season hasn't started, and freshman have played zero games ever, but you already have kids talking about transferring at semester or the end of the school year.

Didn't Morris get a big transfer this year? QB? How's he doing?
Gotta keep the doors open. Morris just started a massive renovation to the school and if you've taught me anything it's that in order to keep a school functioning you need to have a successful football team.

From what I heard his father has a fencing company that either moved or expanded to Morris. Not sure if he installs fences or teaches people to play with skinny swords, but if it's the latter, sign me up!

JV is becoming the new norm outside the larger CCL and some of the larger Public schools.
This is true. Hard to find teams with Varsity, JV, sophs, frosh A and B. Last year we played 5 freshman games as the prelim to the varsity. Great for freshman but the sophs are relegated to Saturday mornings in a glorified scrimmage. JV is still your non varsity starters and they’ve always been either Saturday mornings or Monday afternoons. Freshman B is hit or miss. Those guys usually play someone else’s A team who couldn’t get a game. Very frustrating. Is it numbers or coaches doing things differently?

This one is hard to believe.
They've been doing well attracting Freshmen since Plantz began leading the program.
He has had them in a state championship game in 2 of 3 seasons as the program's HC.
Are the kids quitting the sport or transferring out?

I believe their Enrollment is under 700 for a coed school. Hard to keep numbers with that little of a pool to grab from. Also think they get hit harder with transfers then other catholic schools because the public schools in their area are all very good schools and when a family is paying so much In Property taxes its hard to pay for private school tuition when you have very good schools in the area.
