McLean living a charmed life so far in this one. But at this rate he won't even make it thru 4. 56 pitches in the first 2 innings.
He has come back strong. Now 67 pitches through 4. If we assume that 15 pitches per inning is the goal, he is only seven over par.

Jose Iglesias, aka Candelita, will throw out the first pitch tonight, as he prepares for his Broadway debut in "Buena Vista Social Club" next week!

What the hell is he doing in RF now, thought he was moved to SS or has he been out there all year?
he did have a heck of a game.
This is his 4th year in the OF. Two time Platinum Glove winner.
Jackson Merrill is another converted SS. Played his first game in CF at the MLB level. Another great outfielder.

I have some good news... And I have some bad news.

First, the bad news. Jorge Polanco is back on the IL.

Now the good news. Eric Wagaman is back on the Mets!!!

So far- Ewing and Benge have been a blast to watch. I see Benge on an almost can't miss list for having mult AS selections and such. And a serious threat to being a 30/30 guy most years and serious glove and arm. Ewing- I am a little more reserved. And the reason for it- He has some power but really known for plate discipline. And that is the one part of his game we haven't seen. If he gets that under control- the elite defense and a consistent 15/30 type hitter.

As I go down out history- we have had a couple of very dynamic duos come out of our system, but never in the same years.
Doc and Strawberry and
Wright and Reyes

Can you guys think of any other duos to come up together or within a year of each other that would compare?

I will always puke thinking of an Outfield with PCA and Benge would have looked like.
Then I strongly suggest that you stop thinking about it.

This is coming from someone who still hasn't forgiven the Mets for leaving an 18 year old Paul Blair unprotected in the 1962 First Year Minor League draft.

At the current trajectory I would think Andy Green may have by now put himself in position to possibly have the interim tag removed.

Steve Cohen was recently asked that very question. His response: “I’m going to take him at face value. He told us he wants to go back to the front office. We are going to do a managerial search. If it turns out he wants to put his hat into the ring, that would be great.”

Green was also asked about that, and gave the appropriate non-denial that his sole focus was on the next two months, and wasn't looking beyond that.

Good call with the 67/68 Rookies and man- you go back and look at them- insane starts to both careers. I go back to then as well.
More recently, there was the Fab Five starting staff of the 2010's - Harvey, Wheeler, deGrom, Syndergaard, and Matz. Although Wheeler and Syndergaard were not homegrown.

Ironically, of those five, deGrom was the least highly regarded. The guy who came up along with deGrom, and who was supposed to be the star, was Rafael Montero.

I Stole This From Jon Heyman of The Post

Jorge Polanco’s Mets season ended with two home runs and six RBIs, which is a weekend for Pete Alonso.

Good call on this one too- if Wheller had been homegrown it would be right there with the top of the lists. Amazing the career he put together. He and deGrom are certainly within HOF reach...
