What is the source of these "state" and "federal" resources, how much are they, and what is the purpose of the monies?
"The university has structured the renovation funding through:
a mix of state and federal resources, loans, fundraising, naming rights, sponsorships, premium seating, and a major philanthropic campaign."

I was under the impression that quotation marks on either side of a sentence, paragraph, etc. indicate the information was mentioned by an individual other than yours's truly.
The source came from the B.O.T. and Kraft; question those persons.
Beaver Stadium is included in a list of historic stadiums targeted by a new Congressional initiative and the University has not requested a state grant, at this time.

So as long as you enclose something you write in quotation marks you have no responsibility for it? You should circulate that in DC.

There is no "Congressional initiative" beyond the formation of a caucus that was formed more than three years ago and has done nothing since. Reminiscent of Joanie Caucus.

"only because politics got in the way of USC's deal...".

Right - that's what we're saying. It was the largest at the time because to that point, no one had been able to sign a larger one. Other than the USC deal, it was also the largest because 100+ other schools hadn't been able to find someone to give them that much money. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been the largest.
It is not even close to the largest - by any measure.

I think most people would agree with that. Quoting something clearly means you didn't write it.
Regardless of who quoted who, and what it "means" :)

The "$700 Million renovation" is being financed with "$700 million of long-term debt".

Any other mental contortions, disingenuous statements, distortions, or lies just aren't worth a hill of beans.

Are you suggesting that the use of faux quotation marks won't nessessarily shield a person from potential libel litigation?

This nice young Japanese girl - with an odd voice - has some insight on stadium capacity.

Is that true, will be the biggest when complete? Only temporarily? Not at all. I heard maybe temporarily, this season, but not when finished. Curious is there is any definitive word.

And when you use something in quotes as evidence to make a case you have no responsibility to test or check its veracity. Like how money to be received over years will be used as a down payment. Guess you can plead ignorance if you've never bought a house or a car.

Faux or otherwise, I wouldn't go as far as libelous. Maybe ignorance or gullibility. And when the source is Pat Kraft or someone in the Penn State Finance Department, then considerably further.

LOL, I didn't realize how this thread expanded beyond my post with the dubious quotation marks. #529

Dear Lord Jesus,
Please help this person find his way, he is putting a lot of effort into the apparent intelligent he presents to others.

What's the psychological term for this condition?

The interior and functional aspects of the stadium look great.....but what about the extreior aesthetics? It looks more like a dump outside now then ever before, if that's even possible. Are the exterior facade treatments in a later phase?

I believe the term you're looking for is "NUCKING FUTS!"

According to T Frank the box suites will not be ready and will be covered with tarp. 😂. Penn State basketball finally has something in common with football now.

They may "drape" some things over certain areas - things like that (which would be a very bad idea, especially on the East side - which should be pretty obvious. I would hope).

But, no, there are no plans to make "hard" or structural changes to the outward facing stadium construct.

And I believe the West side facade will feature a fair amount of glass.

It doesn’t look like a dump on the outside minus the construction. The west and south sides look better than they ever have, and the other sides are fine. Beaver Stadium now looks comparable to NFL stadia like Lincoln Financial Field and Heinz Field and a lot of the big SEC stadia.

FWIW: The west side will not look like that (that image is probably from one of the generic early Pub mock ups from the design group, Populous)
Also FWIW: The West side will be the only area w a new "facade" - which, obviously, is by default, since the old west side facade was razed and is now in a fill pit somewhere.
