Keen interest by those of us whose West-side seats are being displaced by the new $10K capital contribution/$4900 a seat Club seats. Where will we go? And at what cost?

I assume this is what you're referencing nittanymoops.
I'll have to look at my account, I thought my priority points included the ticket price!

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for your continued commitment to Penn State Football and for helping make Beaver Stadium one of the most special environments in college sports. Your loyalty and support have shaped the game day experience for generations of student-athletes, coaches and fans, and we are truly grateful.

As we continue to advance the Beaver Stadium Revitalization project, we would like to share several updates that will take effect starting with the 2027 season. These improvements reflect our commitment to enhancing the fan experience while preserving the rich traditions that define Beaver Stadium.

This is the first of two emails you will receive regarding your 2027 season tickets. Tomorrow, we’ll share updated pricing information and the new seating map. No action is required today—we simply wanted to provide some context ahead of that information.

As part of the revitalization, fans will have a broader range of seating options beginning in 2027, including:

• Traditional bench seating that continues to provide the classic Beaver Stadium experience.
• Chairback seating in the lower-level West with enhanced amenities and improved concourses.
• Two new premium club experiences—the Schuyler Club and the Marzano Club—featuring premium sideline seating and climate-controlled hospitality spaces.
• Additional seating options designed to provide greater flexibility, comfort and value for a wide variety of fans.
You’ll also notice a new seating identification system throughout Beaver Stadium. To make it easier to locate seats and navigate the stadium, sections, rows and seats will transition to a straightforward numbered format similar to what fans experience in venues such as Rec Hall and Pegula Ice Arena.

We’re also making several updates designed to provide greater predictability and flexibility for season ticket holders.

Beginning in 2027:

Priority points will be awarded based on the full cost of your season tickets, with additional details to be shared soon.
Renew your season tickets by the renewal deadline and lock in your season ticket price for both the 2027 and 2028 season.
• Season ticket renewals will begin each October, giving you additional time to plan. 😂
• Payment plans will expand to as long as 12 months, offering more flexibility and making it easier to spread payments over the course of the year.

We recognize that being a Penn State Football season ticket holder represents both a financial commitment and a deep personal investment in our program. Our goal is to provide as much clarity and advance notice as possible so you can make the decisions that are right for you and your family.

Tomorrow’s email will include the updated seating map and 2027 pricing information. If you have any questions after reviewing those materials, our ticket office team is ready to assist you at 1-800-NITTANY or [email protected].

Thank you again for your unwavering support of Penn State Football. We look forward to welcoming you back to Beaver Stadium as we begin this exciting new chapter together.

We Are… Penn State.

Sincerely,

Penn State Athletics

Price decreases incoming.
Don't know Bob. The membership of the NLC in 2011 was 22,341, the membership was similar in 2010 and 2012, ....... 22,000+
The NLC used to publish the following priority point statements every year, this is the only one I can find. They may have stopped publishing after 2012. 🤷‍♀️

I understand from a letter I received a week or so ago, the current membership decreased to 20,000.

Folks in the new west side "peasant seats" are going to just love the new intimate feel and location of their bleacher seats.

Photos, videos of Penn State's Beaver Stadium renovation

FWIW: Season ticket sales of the new West bleacher seats (as of this morning). The "blue dots" are unsold.
I must say I am a bit surprised at the lack of sales up there - I thought the first year would be pretty high demand (because it is "new" if for no other reason). But if they can't sell them in Year 1 (despite the 1/2 price sale they had last month for individual game tickets), that doesn't bode really well.

Each game - including both season tickets and individual game tickets - remain basically half empty (or more) in the west upper deck. Aside from the USC game (white out) which clearly had the most single game ticket sales - has probably around 1/2 the number of empty seats.

WOW,
I very mistakenly assumed the upper west side would be chair-back seats.

PSU averaged 107,000 per home game last year and they weren't good. So I don't think attendance moving forward is going to be an issue.

LOL

Early on, I had conversations with folks in ICA.
Knowing they were planning X thousand of Clubs, Suites, Chairback. Loge, etc "premium" seats, I asked how much of a drop in capacity there will be.

Answer "None"

So, I asked if the footprint of the seating would be expanded side-to-side, or up-and-down, or a bit of both.

Answer: "Neither, we won't have to do that to keep the same capacity"

So I tried to 'splain to them that even with simple chairbacks, you can only fit 2 chairbacks (even less than that, really) into the space that would otherwise hold 3 or more bench seats. And simple "maths" (Lion Jim can check to numbers :) ) you can't fit all that into the same footprint - you have to either drop capacity, or increase footprint, substantially (Unless they shrunk the size of seats down to about 10 inches :) - which obviously wasn't an option)

Answer: "No, we figured it all out"

Laugh, or cry?
I honestly don't know if:
1) They actually believed what they were saying (very scary if true)
or
2) Thought they could say something so inane, and expect people to believe it (also very disconcerting if true)

They averaged nowhere close to 107,000 in attendance per home game.

But that isn't the issue at hand - and if you believe that 107,000 to be true I don't see any reason to say more. I can only wish you well.

I thought the same as I read the post. 🤦‍♂️
The official capacity is around 106,000+, south upper decks are usually 75% full, the Club seats are never at full capacity.

They do keep track of how many are actually in the stadium each game.
(SPOILER: Every university "lies" a bit on their"attendance" figures)

Honestly - it shocked me to see how much of a difference there is.
Now, common sense, if you actually attend the games and just "look around" tells you that most games are certainly not 107,000 - or anywhere close.
If you also know how "bleacher seating" works - when you have 14 inch (IIRC) seats? Yeah, you could have 70% attendance and bleacher seats would look full - which anyone who regularly attends games would also know. Now there are a lot of games a lot fuller than that - but believe me, you "know it" when every seat is filled.

Anyway, back to the point: I certainly know/knew that average attendance is - even in a good year - south of 100,000 (and, NOT saying that is bad or even unusual for big time programs - it just is what it is) .

But when I saw the actual REAL numbers for people "in the house", I was somewhat surprised. Meaningfully less than I would have "eyeballed" it at. WELL south of 100,000 per. Often times well south of 90,000 for many games.... maybe 65,000-75,000 for a ****** opponent in the rain. But "announced" as near 110,000 every game.
Doesn't really matter; don't really care (aside from the fact that when I am at a game and in the bleachers, I appreciate it when a lot of the folks among that announced 110,000 are not really there - the sardine cans of the bleachers sections become a lot more bearable when you lose 20,000 butts.)

And the South upper decks - or anywhere else with chairback seats - are a good way to estimate. Because those are the areas where you can see which seats are empty, on a gameday that is announced as 100% of capacity (bleachers "fill in", to the eyeball", even if 20-30% or more of the folks aren't there).

Check out the chairbacks, see roughly what percentage are filled in a decent sized section while the game is going on - and that's a good starting point for what the % of capacity is that is in the house (bump up a couple percent to account for folks grabbing food and drink - or disposing of same - at any one time).

Anyway - the actual in the house is tracked. And it isn't anywhere near 107,000 per game.

About time. This was one of the true oddities of Penn State football. Even numbers on one side and odd on the other. Used to confuse the heck out of visitors.

OK, then you're right. Those seats will remain unsold forever, ICA will go bankrupt and we'll be playing club football in 10 years.

You'd think eventually one of your crazy theories would actually come true. Fortunately, they never do.

For the AKB's information-a brief look into the prices for the 2027 season

Dear Thomas,

As outlined in the email sent to you yesterday, we are sharing the newly updated pricing plan and map for the 2027 season.

Click here for the 2027 Football pricing and seating map.

Please visit the newly refreshed Beaver Stadium Virtual Venue online tool that enables you to see the view from each section of the stadium.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR YOU AS A SEASON TICKET HOLDER

You currently have season tickets in a location that is not impacted by stadium construction. No action is required unless you would like to add seats or relocate your current seats for the 2027 season.

In the coming weeks you will have the option to review and choose new West Side seats as part of our initial 2027 seat selection process. Your appointment time will be provided to you at least one week prior to your selection date and will be determined by your NLC priority points rank.
If You Select New West Side Seats:

Your current seats will remain in your account. If you select new West Side seats, they will be added to your account in addition to your existing seats. No payment is required at this time. Your new West Side seats as well as your existing seats will be billed during the October 2027 renewal process this fall. At that time, you can choose which seats to keep or remove before completing your renewal.

If You Do NOT Select New West Side Seats:

If you do not select seats during the West Side selection period, you will simply renew your existing seats when the 2027 season renewals begin in October.
At that time, you will have the opportunity to enroll in the regular seat selection and upgrade process for 2027 that will happen after renewals are complete.
Below you will find the updated season ticket pricing map for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, as well as important updates shared in yesterday’s email.
As part of Beaver Stadium’s revitalization, we are introducing a modern, simplified seating system designed to improve your game day experience.

Beaver Stadium is transitioning away from using directional sections indicators (i.e. ED, EE, and EF); rows consisting of a combination of letters and numbers; and finally, the use of odd and even seat numbering within the rows.

Beginning in 2027, the stadium will feature a new seating layout featuring:

Numbered sections
Numbered rows
Sequential seat numbering within each row
Example Conversion:
Seats in 2026:
Section EF | Row D | Seats 2, 4, 6, 8

Seats in 2027 (the same exact location):
Section 131 | Row 4 | Seats 1, 2, 3, 4

Click here to view the 2027 Seating Chart and Section Conversion Chart.

Please visit the newly refreshed
Beaver Stadium Virtual Venue online tool that enables you to see the view from each section of the stadium. This is the same tool that will be used to conduct actual seat selection, so please take some time to familiarize yourself with the updates.
Beginning in 2027, Nittany Lion Club Priority Points will now also be earned on the entire value of your season ticket purchase.
Renew your season tickets by the 2027 renewal deadline and lock in your season ticket price for both the 2027 and 2028 seasons, giving you the opportunity to secure your seats for the next two seasons while knowing your pricing is set through 2028.
Season ticket renewals will now be released each year in October and you can now take advantage of payment plans extending up to the full-year (12-months).
As part of the revitalization, four seating areas on the West Side now require a one-time capital gift as part of the season ticket purchase. These areas include the Schuyler Club and the Marzano Club, both having a one-time gift of $10,000 for the account; the Lower Level Chairback seats at $2,500 per account; and last, the Mezzanine Level seats at $500 per account. This one-time contribution is payable over a three-year period and is tax deductible.

Most of the former West Bowl - Lower seating area is being converted to Club Seating.

Portions will be non-club, but converted to Chairback vs Bench seating.

If you previously had seats in the West Lower Bowl - in the areas that are NOT being taken over for clubs (basically the "wings" of the West Lower), your costs will be going up by over 2 times as much, to over 2 1/1 times as much (and, of course, an additional one-time "donation" of $2,500 per):

And the West Upper Bleacher seats?

In return for your bleacher seats now being moved up into the clouds (to make space available for the Suites and Clubs corwd), you only have to pay either 7% more (upper portions of bleachers) or 20% more (lower portions of bleachers) - depending on if you want to be closer to those clouds:

Some may remember that when this was all presented (to the Board and the Public) Ms Thordike and Mr Kraft stated that those folks in the non-renovated, non-club/suite sections would see price increases limited to about 2% per year.

Some folks may have even believed them :ROFLMAO:

I expect most of the folks on the Board certainly believed them, and most of the rest didn't care (so long as THEY got "better elevators" to the suites out of the deal).
But there were at least a couple who could 1) Do math, and 2) Cared.

I don't wish to be flippant about your post, but how the hell else didn't you expect the ticket prices to skyrocket?
Of course, the season tickets will increase greatly, especially if the ICA doesn't receive their yearly stadium donations of say........$70 million +/-
