Mt Airy @ Starmount
Forbush and Bishop MCG
East Surry and Statesville
Elkin and Surry Central
West Stokes and North Davidson
North Surry and Alleghany

This thread is for fun since little to no information is known or at least shared about any of these teams.

My guess above is Starmount is as good as expected and they have a fun night.
Forbush is building and I expect will not have much trouble with BM.
Statesville is Statesville and will just simply have more athletes, even with a new coach.
North should be larger and faster than Alleghaney but....
West Stokes I am picking but know not why.

Starmount - closer game than most think, MA is gonna be good up front on both sides
Bishop - seems like they got better as year went last season under new coach
Statesville - closer game than people think
Elkin - low scoring game but heard some good things about their defensive improvements
West Stokes - loaded with skill people and too fast for ND
North Surry - close one, Alleghany as big as NS up front, if not bigger and I think they finish second in MV behind Starmount

Surprised at the West Stokes and North Surry results. West tied at halftime made lot of mental errors in second half. Cramps, muffed punt inside 10 yard line, letting receivers get behind you on 3rd and long for touchdowns. First game mistakes. On muffed punt regular return man out with cramps why put backup in standing on 10 yard line on turf field.

Anybody at the Alleghany and North Surry game? Was it a running clock? I know it was 31-0 at one point

To me, in my humble and limited knowledge, the surprise was East Surry. From reading the newspaper report of the game, it appears East was in the game the entire night. Yes, my initial prediction that Statesville was Statesville and would have Athletes. And they apparently did have athletes that made a few big plays and that was the difference in the game.

But East cleans up a complete of things and they could have won this game.
My question now is: are they in the Northwest driver's seat?

Second, Mount Airy played a much better 1st quarter of the Starmount game than I thought they could. In the second quarter they had the chance to put the game away, but something like 7 or 8 penalties on one drive and a couple of bone head blown plays, and Starmount was given the time to get their head into the game.

North Surry and West Stokes I just have no idea what in the world happened or why.

I am not really surprised by the Alleghany-North Surry game. I think Alleghany is better than most realize. They finished 8-3 last year with a strong year. They beat North Surry and Grayson County and only lost by 1 point in OT to Starmount. While I don't expect it, they are in the mix to win their conference.

I couldn't make it to the Mount Airy game Friday, but listened on the radio. It sounds like they did pretty well minus the mistakes. I think they will have a solid year even though the record will probably not show how well they did with the schedule. I think it will be a hard fought year for the Bears.

After first week MA is favorite to win conference but it comes down to who improves the most during the season. Mt Airy, West Stokes and East Surry have some really tough non-conference games coming up and can they stay healthy. Can't afford key injuries. East Surry has the most experienced QB. Friday was first games for MA and WS quarterbacks.

I think Mt Airy is much better than y'all realized(and will only get better). Mason is a heck of a running back and the line is big, strong and physical like always. We will know more after the East and Starmount game Friday night.

I was surprised at the North and Alleghany score but I also think they're much better than we realize. Their JV team was really good last year.

East Surry host Starmount
West Stokes vs South Stokes
Surry Central vs North Wilkes

Again, no special knowledge on any of these teams, but still having fun guessing what is going to happen!

Mt Airy, cleans up some of last weeks sloppy plays and penalties from good efforts, escapes with a win over an East Wilkes team that played a really good Hibriten team much better than expected. This game could go EW's way if the Bears do not play an error free game.

If North Surry does not win this game, the Greyhounds will have a very, very long season.

OK, I know Starmount will be favored. But East "could" have beat Statesville with a cleaner game. And 6A Statesville has athletes. I expect a barn burner of a game and with the game in Pilot Mountain, I think East will pull it out.

With no disrespect to South, if the sun comes up on Friday, West Stokes wins by as many as they want. Please be kind to your neighbor.

North Surry plays West Wilkes this week.

I think the MA vs EW and ES vs Starmount should both be very good games but also very crucial games for all teams.

The Mt Airy vs East Wilkes and Starmount vs East Surry should be good games and it would not surprise me if ES wins. Having experience on the line and at QB is big in high school.

Looks like I only missed Starmount vs East Surry. And I missed that one really bad!
