the first in this class is scheduled for delivery in March 2027...it makes absolutely no sense, zero, less than zero sense to revise design at this stage.

according to AI "Redesigning the position of the control tower (known as the "island") on a modern nuclear-powered aircraft carrier would take years—potentially 5 to 10 years or more—and cost billions of dollars. Previous naval feasibility studies concluded that shifting the island layout on classes like the Gerald R. Ford-class requires an extraordinary, highly disruptive engineering overhaul"

I would imagine that Navy acquisition folks realize that 1..they don't have $$$billions sitting around to make just a design change 2. delaying a ship for 5-10 years would add more $$$billions to the final cost of a ship and 3. Trump will be history even before a final redesign is completed and approved.

So if I were CNO, I know what I'd do....

I'm only shocked that he stopped at demanding a return to steam catapults and moving the island forward. I assumed he'd want to encase the island in gold leaf, and line the hull in gold leaf braiding.
Now you know why the number one issue the cult is worried about is who is driving Subaru cars.

Reminds me of the time Homer Simpson's long lost half brother, Herb, hired him to design a car for the average Joe 6-Pack...
