Some are saying the high Illinois taxes contributed.

I have no idea if it’s true. Doesn’t really matter now.

Then what about the Nebraska plant they closed, the Utah plant they're closing and the Washington plant they're looking to sell?

Taxes is likely a scapegoat.
I will say if they have no beef to process they kind of have to close.

tyson likes to make money. You have to sell things to make money. Which means you have to produce things.

Right. I think this is a much bigger factor than taxes.

From what I've gathered Tyson's system is to beat out all the competitors. Then drop how much they'll pay for cattle to the point farmers don't make a profit so they stop raising them. Then the cattle populations shrink. Then when Tyson closes, a large hole is left because there are no other meat distributors.

1. Who is saying this?
2. Kind of does matter still if something is true or not, even in this era of alternative facts
3. It does matter for the workers, the producers and consumers.
3. and the local economy.

The small town real estate market took a cratering when the Nebraska plant closed. It was that town's main employer, and many houses went on the market at he same time. Anyone serious about moving is taking a big L on their house because there was nothing driving anyone to move in.

Plus all the other industries that relied on those employees to be their consumer.

Tyson has also closed multiple plants in Iowa in recent years, which, the last time I checked, is not a liberal hideout. The taxes are just an excuse.

That's pretty correct. I'm not saying this with any personal business insight, but I do have an immediate family member that worked there. He was flown down to corporate pretty regularly. They're basically Wal-Mart of food production. Their headquarters are basically in each other's backyards and the culture and the mentality is all very similar.

Don't trifle with facts for posters like Obscure. He has his emotions and MAGA curious intuition to rely upon.

The big question is why is there a cattle shortage??? Probably an agenda in place to raise the cost of red meat and to encourage consumers to eat less of it.

Cost of beef is a real problem. I know Trump tried to address it, but it whatever he did didn't seem to help. Started after Covid and has never recovered.
