And Jake went 3-4 with a double & triple.
Now up to 2.93 PA/game, for those keeping track. 0.17 away from meeting the batting stats threshold.
He had been in a mini slump, dropping below .300, but that popped him back up to .301.
OPS is looking great. Nearing .750
He’s been better than Skenes this year.
There is a lot of legit concern that Skenes will never be the pitcher he appeared to be that first season. His velo is steadily dropping.
Not doing this to be picky. Just did this because I was curious about WAR for the team this year. Obviously, position matters here but still interesting.

Somethings wrong with Skenes. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has offseason surgery for some injury. You don’t just lose that much velocity at that age.
FWIW, I’ve learned that this 1 of 1 is only verified thru 1988, when pitch counts were tracked for stats.

I think he just loses all his stamina pumping @livvydunne . Nothing left in the tank when out on the mound.

- 5 batters reached base by either hit, BB or error. Solo HR was the only one not erased by either a DP (3) or a SB throw out (1).
Kinda makes it clear how it would be extremely rare to pitch 9 innings with 10 Ks in 85 pitches.
This is the only complete game this season by a Pittsburgh pitcher. Things have really changed in my lifetime.

Griffin is high because he’s a SS. Much more difficult to find his offensive profile at that position. SS and a RF with the exact same offensive numbers, the SS is going to have a waaaaaay higher WAR.
I was interested to see how he did this season, after he had a God awful WBC showing.
