Car guys. My car has skip plate damage.

So my Infiniti m37 is now 17 years old and the skid plate hole on driver side is no more. Jiffy lune guys are zip tying that one hole on and other holes are screwed. Guess my kid hit a speed bump to fast.
so, is a skip plate needed after this one falls off again for this car. Guy told me suvs lile
My esv’s don’t have one. Thanks for the help.

Send said kid to the closest u pull it that has a wrecked one

have him take a good jack when he goes

I know you live in the south and don’t have snow/salt/cinders/sand to deal with, but that’s an old car. Things eventually fail without suspected kid damage.
Just searched, well under $100 for a replacement for an m37 and have the Jiffy Lube boys put the new one and pass along a 12 pack of beer or some $$.
I live up north and mine, different make/model, started shredding after 7 years.
Sorry for the rant, hits close as I had to tear mine completely off recently even after new screws and extra wide washers to hold it on for the last few years

It’s a $200 part on Amazon, less on TEMU.

Make your kid pay for the part and labor to fix it

Slip plate?!?! What the hell are you talking about?

m37 is a sedan not a truck … doesn’t have a skid plate ( “slip plate” ?) Are you referring to the crappy plastic splash shield that all cars have that needs to be removed to access to oil filter? Either go to a junkyard and find one for $18 or simply just drive it w/o it - not gonna hurt anything… it’s an 18yr old Nissan , you have bigger issues to worry about ;)

That's why I change my own oil in my E-300 4-matic from the top w/ an extractor.

Yes that crappy plastic thing if that is what it is called for
My sedan that is not my esv suv. 😂
So the front holes are shot and all tied in by zip tiles. The back part of it is screwed in. Something about the holes not able to use screws anymore.

so it is ok then to drive without it then if indeed it falls off in the future. Just making sure what the jiffy guy said was true.

my depth of car knowledge working parts is zero.

You are fine …. If it’s not secured / flappin’ around down there at speed, I suggest just pulling it off … no harm at all

These plastic pieces do nothing anyway , they are there as the smooth underside will offer a fractional mpg benefit

Take it off. It's only there to catch oil in case it has a drip. Not required.
