Ross is 5 in 5 correct? Thus both should wrestle. NDI should be interesting.
Ha! We're all thinking the same thing. This would have been perfect in the old system.
I mentioned this not long after NCAAs that they were gonna put in for a medical for Doucet and I expected him to get one . Until this was released I hadn't heard he got another year so don't be surprised if this is a mistake

The depth we are going to have next year is crazy. We could have a Top-15ish team of second stringers. It's coming Brothers...
Him being on the roster would be a surprise for sure.
He would start the year ranked #1. I saw what was posted time will tell I guess

Doucet is also a tremendous leader on the team. Regardless what happens at the weight, having him around is nothing but a huge bonus in the room!
Haha, that is actually what my thoughts were. He is a great teammate and ambassador for the Program, which is very welcomed.
As far as pay, I cannot confirm that it is hefty or small. He is involved with camps and such.
I would think that Konner plans to wrestle. This will be a tough ranking match and the starter may change during the season. Freshmen heavyweights generally are not champs.
Time will tell! Obviously, if he wants to go win a NC and do what it takes to do that, LETS GO!
Yesterday at the RTC Ross beat Taye 7-0 2 takedowns a step out and an exposure
. A Penn St fan is Zadick's neighbor and he attends OTC workouts at times .There will be no ranking match. Doucet will only go if Ross needs rest/is hurt. You can thank John for his hate of competition. LOL
Why would Doucet need to be on the roster to be a training partner? He can do that and not be on the roster.
College practices (folk style) and RTC practices (freestyle) are technically different things, and you have to be on the roster and enrolled in college to participate in the college practices.
I mean ... there are no rules anymore but they could just make him a volunteer coach or director of fun. I don't think you put KD on the roster unless he plans to compete for the job.
Sure ... but that would mean he is on the roster and ready to compete. That is kind of my point. I don't buy he is just there to be a training partner. I don't know if he can beat Ross but I don't think you put him on the roster (and then have the school tweet he is back) if he is just around to give Ross a practice buddy.
He's there and very committed to being a partner. If something happens, Doucet can pop in.
DT has done a very good job of developing a culture where guys just want to stay. They're enjoying being on the team regardless of their place on the depth chart. Doucet is very content helping Ross win a title.
Maybe you are right. Just seems weird the school is making a big deal about KD being back if there is no real intention of him competing for the spot.
Yeah I don't buy this for a second. If KD is beating Ross he will be the starter. He is there to compete. You think Coach Taylor is going to be like "Oh we have a guy eligible who is better than the other guy but we're not gonna wrestle him?!?"
My thought is that all wrestlers for a team must be on a certified list to wrestle for that team. KD will now be submitted as a heavy for the team and if anything happens to Ross, KD fills the hole.
Now, if KD is getting the best of Ross, he will get the nod as the starter just like any position battle.

There are sometimes better ways to determine the best wrestler than a simple wrestle off. I don't think we yet know which method(s) DT is/will use.
DT is going to put the guy on the mat who can score the most points regardless of who wins the ranking matches.
Neither are freshman 197 pounders but we’ve had one of those in recent history
