Football season predictions anyone?

For the first time in many, many years - I have not read one iota of hype regarding our football team. I stopped listening when I knew Sellers was coming back. (I was happy about that, for him and for us - he wasn't ready by any stretch for the NFL)

However, that's it. - I know nothing else. Will our OL be improved? It almost has to be.... middle of the pack in every stat for the OL this season would be a MASSIVE improvement from nearly dead last in almost every meaningful category that we've experienced over the last ..... forever. - ????

And then, say the OL is improved. - Will Sellers STILL scramble around, hold onto the ball too long, overthrow easy passes, etc? Or did he actually improve? And MOST IMPORTANTLY, considering the OL troubles and Sellers propensity to scramble around.... will our OC call quick passing plays to try to neutralize some of the pressure??? Quick 3 step drop and some slants over the middle can cure a lot of that.

I know we have no RB's to speak of. TE's will need to be leaned on to compensate. I predict a losing season and Shane will be gone. - We start over next year. Again. IMHO. Anything less than a winning record, and Shane is gone.

Throw a team with no real RB, no real QB, and no OL into the SEC and you're going to have a losing season. It is what it is. Thoughts?

Good way to start off the EIGHT wins prediction thread.
I think most that have followed the program for some time know that is our number.
We endorse it, love it, excuse it (schedule, you know), and repeat it every August.

Same here on not reading the hype. I like some of the OT threads and like to check the recruting rankings/data on occassion.
Lane Kiffen is the only CFB coach I listen to, albeit rarely, just for the entertainment value.

As usual, we enter with so many question mark. If this and this and this and this...New OC, new OL coach, new RB coach, new DE coach, brand new OL. If it ALL gels, 9+ wins is on the table. What are the odds it all gels?

Hope, angst, frustration, renewed hope, anger, disappointment, heartbreak, utter dejection. I've been a Gamecock fan for several decades. I know how this ride goes. But if you're after a true win-loss guess, I'd say 6-6.

Is that enough to keep Shane, in your eyes?

6-6 and Shane is safe, win or lose the crappy bowl game. If one of the wins is a conference upset or Clemson, Shane might get a raise.

I agree with Lurker. Carolina football has been mediocre 75-80% of our history over a 100+ year history, with an occasional really good season thrown in there. Gamecock fans show up for the old school whether it's rain or shine. In 2025, the Gamecocks sold their entire allotment of 47,500 season tickets. That's impressive, especially when you consider that U.S. wages have plummeted to 43% of national income, the lowest since the Great Depression. As long as fans continue buying tickets and show up, we will continue going with the flow, not that there's anything wrong with that because HFBC @USC is a tough job.

Which game do you see as the regular season loss? I think 11-1 would stand a good chance of getting us into the SECCG, depending on how the tie breakers work out. I think the road trip to Oklahoma might be our toughest game this year, but there's a lot of competition for that title.

Alabama or Georgia would be my guess but Oklahoma will be difficult as well.

I suspect 6-6 will make his job safe for another year. But that’s based solely on the low bar for our program. When you consider these coaches’ insane salaries, I think the pressure to win more ought to be much higher. If I were the AD, I’d deduct $500,000 from Shane’s salary for every loss.

Down three against Alabama, ball on the Alabama 31 with 39 seconds remaining, third down. Sellers moneys a ball to Harbor as he’s crossing the goal line, Harbor drops it. Kicker pushes the kick wide, ball game. You’re docking Beamer five hundred grand. That’ll play well in the coaching circles.

Respectfully, I suggest that some of you guys have a severely distorted view of the college football landscape.

6-6 unless the team proves me wrong. Shane is safe if he gets to 6 wins.

Thats all the caring I can muster right now.
