I don’t know about Rice that high when they’re only returning 7 starters total and they have a QB that had very little experience last year.
I am not necessarily opposed to this position. I think though that BR was dominant defensively and the cause of that domination remains. McGee is the 2nd best edge in the state and Parks makes it so he cant be doubled.

That said, I would not be surprised if LWE wins in week 1, but Rice is the favorite.

They got 3 of DePauls starting OLinemen from last year so add them to their 2 starters they had coming back and you got a very experienced OLine which is crucial when you have an inexperienced QB. Now these DePaul players will have to adjust from DePauls strength of schedule to Rices but they should be fine.

Loyola is bringing everyone back including the man who is arguably the best coach in the state over the last two decades. They may not have the D1 talent MC or ESL has, but they are gonna be there with those two teams in the final rankings at the end of the year.
While LA always had a few D1 players on their roster they send a very high amount of their noteable players to Ivy and Patriot League schools. Eyes are set on a different prize going to College!

MOB doing his daily countdown for the Times. So far it's

10. Hersey
9. The Brook
He should have consulted the official unbiased top 10.

His write up is correct about the special teams. Directly gave up probably about 150 points last year and left a ton on the table in the form of makeable XPs and FGs

Have been very active in the portal this offseason. RB from Wisconsin and Stevenson receiver from what I know. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more on top of that
How much longer does the IHSA and D214 turn a blind eye to what's happening at Hersey?

They need to find some defensive players as scoring never seems to be a problem for them it's stopping teams.

it was baffling, but get that cleaned up and they improve instantly. - Going to be a good one on 9/11 in Bolingbrook.

Week 4 seems so far away right now. I have to start gathering information for the completely random official report on H-F for week one. But in the rival thread I forsee Oswego becoming our main rival should H-F fall off the schedule, which I hope they do.

NV plays Hersey in week two, I'm looking forward to seeing that one.

He saw East St Louis transfer QB and figured why not I guess. Bit too high IM

Francis has a ton of potential….good returning core plus 7 likely high impact transfers. WR and DB core stacked - the two 2028 Carmel transfers were big time last year. Big O and D line (AJ Redmon widely considered the best 2029 DL in the state). Nearly 1000 yard RB coming back.

I agree it may be a bit too high and all of that talent will have to come together, but they have a chance to be a very strong squad this year. O’Brien taking the over on that happening I guess.

side note: Franny’s freshman class considered the strongest they’ve ever had.

Transfer GBH is a quality athlete and quality person. Hard working and humble.

I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned (ever on this board - as best I can recall) his FB bloodlines.

Not saying they won't be good, just thought 7 was a bit high but you know more then me.
I think they are high, I expect anywhere from 4-5 to 7-2. Unless they get crushed by injuries, at 4-5 entering playoffs I would still have them as a favorite.

Off topic but Sox should have kept Schultz and put him in the bullpen. They did it with Sale and Crochett and it obviously worked for them
I think the move may have been best for him. His issue has always been control and location, the bullpen may not be his friend.

His K/9 is down which is also not helpful, he has had a rough start in MLB. He needed to go down, not just to the pen.

Yeah, the pitches that are supposed to be out of the strike zone for punch outs are staying in the zone and getting hit.

The real question this year for me

Brother Rice last year swept the Loyola team at every level; this was the first time that had ever happened in school history

my belief…. Round 2 is coming this year

Montini and Loyola at #4 & #3 respectively

About 10-15 too high to start the season.
The low end of that is pretty fair. I see a possible handful of losses that a 6A championship wouldnt overcome. I chose to place them a little higher.

So I'm assuming MOB will have MC and BR at 1 and 2 so he doesn't even have LWE in top 10 for the first time is a very long time I'm guessing for the preseason
