dude under achieved at his pinnacle and he deserves a luke warm Arkansas ending to his coaching tenure .

he “should’ve” had two more final fours with 17 and 19. Instead he looked elsewhere. He doesn’t have what it takes anymore and his team reflect that.

He levied the UCLA job agaisnt UK and Barnhardt to squeeze that lifetime contract out of us. Barnhardt couldn’t let him walk then. Cal was still too successful. Where Barnhardt messed up was the buyout. He did not have to make the buyout that big. 1 title was not enough to warrant that type of commitment from the university.

Hopefully we all learned but we have a lot of fans that are ready to extend a coach anytime he wins two games in a row now days.

It just seems like a lot of complaining and unnecessary hatred towards people seeing as how it worked itself out just 5 seasons later anyway. Would anyone really be complaining about the contract had it been for 5 years?

And he's better than Pope. Again, I'm not making the case that Cal is/was the best option out of all the coaches we could have possibly replaced him with, particularly after his last few seasons of decay. I'm making the case that if we were going to hire Pope, who was a downgrade by every reasonable metric, we should have just let Calipari finish here.

Why did you leave out his SEC and NCAA tournament records during that time?

He did us a favor by talking to tOSU and Arkansas mid season. He very well could have dragged it out for the money when he clearly didn’t want to be here.

On3's firt mock is loaded with 4 Razorback's. They have Toure lottery here, stole him out of UConn's backyard. UConn didn't put up much of a fight. I bet Cal gets more satisfaction winning that recruiting battle that he does winning tourney games. And I bet Hurley doesn't give two ***** because he's focused on winning tourney games. Also get the sense that once a recruit engages hard with Cal, he backs off because he knows he's not a fit for their system.

Cal's machine is firmly in motion. Him and Scheyer are going to go blow for blow annually 1-2 in HS recruiting.

Whenever things aren't tops, it is very easy to want whatever you don't have even if you were desperate to launch into the sun a little while ago.

I think many are untethered to the ground on the opportunities for upside and are absolutely blind to downside if it is even a little overcast much less raining cats and dogs.

That said, talent or not it had been some years since a Sweet 16 to even say that choice was the one on the table.

I was willing to go another year but the environment was in reality, toing to be absolutely toxic, like the land of Mordor with the Orcs running amok bad and so it would take a very good start to finish to minimize the torches and pitchforks.

Too much of BBN and by a lot of reports an uncomfortable portion of the money had gotten in more or less a feud or at best an "EFF YOU SHOW ME" style posture while being determined that he do so while being whipped relentlessly.

Add to that, he sort of wanted out too or he wouldn't have messed around and put himself into the crazy position of voiding his contract guarantees.
He'd at least give lip service to fans investing precious time off and lots of money in tournaments.

Probably it was not going to work out, either way.

Compound that with the real issue being the tournament, no level of regular season success would slow it much, undefeated may even been the worst just adding 2015 PTSD to the volatile mix.

Increasing members of the fan base had been dropping out since 2015 and he had a bad run since 2019 of mixing mailing in it in some, weak freshmen classes undermining his premise, older players staying in and producing, and bad luck that blended into a rough look for something that could even limp along for a few or five years without some high level results and quick.
