Whiteville hosting Laney and James Kenan Friday 8/7 for scrimmage

This was a great scrimmage last night. I was really impressed with JK and Whiteville. They both took it to Laney!

Both teams have a lot of size. Whiteville has bigger backs, while JK has faster backs. Overall I would give an edge to JK right now but it’s early and the pack have lots of time to grow! Both should be a factor in the east this year

I think both of those teams along with Northeastern are going to be at the top of the 3a east this year. Saw somewhere last night that Wallace looked solid too.

Yeah Whiteville passing game was in midseason form, I think they worked on that more so yesterday than their rushing attack. JK is very young, especially on defense, with our skills guys. Hopefully we'll grow up fast. I didn't like how the scrimmage format had us on the field for four straight possessions, our two way guys were gassed. Let's us know that we have to develop some depth.

I saw Whiteville last night. Their Soph QB can spin it. He looked pretty good to me. They will definitely be in the mix for the 3a east.
Question for Whiteville guys is he the same kid that pitched the state baseball championship game last year as a freshman? I know they both left handed.

Yes I was there. Where I saw the QB for Whiteville. There was 4 teams there ED , Whiteville, CB Aycock, and Hobbton. Everyone scrimmage everyone. ED and Whiteville look far superior to the other two. It's early but Aycock may be in for a long year in 6a and Hobbton just looked like it was an early scrimmage making lots of mistakes. When ED and Whiteville matched up I think ED scored 3 times and Whiteville 1. Scrimmage with lots of subbing both teams so always hard to tell but in a real game it would be close. My opinion anyway. Now ED goes Friday night to scrimmage Hoggard and probably get their butts handed to them. Just hope for no injuries.
